Im doing it now and its a ton of research and work.

I have a Nissan with a Bose system and the speakers are trash. im leaving the head unit and replacing all the door speakers and adding my 2 12's. for now ill be running off the Bose amp for the speakers. im replacing all the speakers with Infinity since its 2ohms throughout. i have 2 12" kicker cvr's with a kicker 750.1zx amp in a ported box from a previous car i had

im installing Components in the front doors which ive never done so thats a lot of wiring. the rear door speakers should go right in and i have to use a AudioControl LC2i converter to tap off my rear deck speakers(only speakers im leaving stock) to get my sub and amp going. then there is the whole running the power cord from the battery to the trunk ordeal

i few hundred dollars later i have all my speakers, wires and tools ready and im going to start the process this weekend and do a few things at a time over the next few weeks

wish me luck any tips would be useful

Got an 02 lac with the Bose system. Thought about an aftermarket head unit, but thought about the tedious work and was like:huhldup:

I do like the sound, but I might upgrade the door speakers. That sub below the back window does just enough for me

if you're going to replace the bose speakers, replace it all(amp, head unit, etc). the impedence difference between the bose amp and new aftermarket speakers will burn out your speakers. you're better off gutting out all of bose and going all aftermarket..

What "CL" said... I got the premium Bose setup in my A6 that came stock with the car, and it's good has great sound and never gave me a problem. I wanted to upgrade to Bang & Olufsen for the classier sound, but looked at the extensive work it took online and said ":usure: fukk that shyt"

Bose is 2 ohm so i went and got Infinity speakers that are all 2 ohm one of the few brands that actually make 2 ohm besides JBL

im keeping the head unit because that really is the huge chore IMO to replace. it would cost like a grand for a good one plus i would lose my satellite and some other controls

im going to give the Bose amp a shot but i may replace it. in my previous car i was running my speakers off a Pioneer deck and it sounded ok i would assume the Bose amp would be strong enough to power my speakers

im starting tommorow with the easiest first the rear doors then next weekend the front door components which will be a HUGE bytch to set up nice then the following week the sub set up

overall i figure im looking at like 6-8 hours of total work with a few headaches

i installed a new system in my :flabbynsick: civic last summer (new head unit, components in the front, amp and sub). replacin the head unit took the least time out of all of them (30 mins tops) and it was well worth it. sounds like u've already started installin shyt, but i would def recommend upgrading your amp. imo the amp is the most important part of a system, u can have some expensive ass speakers but if u powerin them off that bose head unit they're gonna sound like shyt. also, if ur on a budget and dont normally have people in ur backseat i'd recommend removing the rear speakers completely and investing that savings in more expensive components upfront. good luck!

Everybody that I know that's into car stereo has said that it was probably best to replace all that stuff in there. I know that if it was me that is what I would do. But if you are able to make it all work and sound good then go for it. My wife has a 14 speaker Bose sound system and it sounds good but that sub under the deck isn't as strong as I would want it to be. The only reason I haven't done anything to it is because she's fine with it. But if I drove her car more often I would have definitely had a sub installed in place of the one in the rear deck. Probably one of those slim fit Pioneer 10's with a different amp.

on those factory bose systems you gotta replace the whole thing amps, speakers,HU, wiring. Is not that it won't work. is how long is going to work.

installed my back door speakers today they were easy you basically just take the door off and install the new wire harness on the new speaker and put it all back

i also ran my amp power cord from the battery to the trunk. it was tricky but i ended up drilling a half inch hole on my driver side near the brake pedal and ran the wire through that then caulked it shut. overall a pain in the ass but it went smooth

now all i have to do is my components in the front doors which will be next weekend and then put my crossover and subs. those will be the hardest so im saving them last
