As long as it replaces all other entitlements dollar for dollar I'm fine with it. Actually, I prefer it that way...

Personally, I'm against it.

It makes some sense to replace most entitlements with straight up cash. Some people will abuse it but at least they have the freedom to do so. Some people would prefer cash over food stamps since there is less headache and you can budget it how you wish.

The question is how it would be calculated and who gets it. Would it be tied to inflation? At what age would people qualify? I could see the argument for it starting at a point older than 18 because they are usually still on the parents watch. But, on the other hand, it would get tricky with contingencies.

With all that said, I favor it. I would propose it for people 18 and up if they have their own residence and make under a certain amount of money or out of college and making under a certain amount of money.
