In short he points out the lack of foresight in current wrestlers like Seth Rollins, who only look at the product in terms of getting themselves over, not the product as a whole.

Max landis pitched an idea that would get the whole tv presentation over and bring in more eyeballs, and in reply Seth was like, but which wrestler gets a boost from it, instead of realizing a rising tide lifts all the ships.

An example of the fukked up and distorted thought process that has pro wrestling shrinking and shrinking

So basically despite WWE wanting to present itself as if it is a weekly TV show the people involved still have that old school carny mindset.
Seth's reaction is like if The Walking Dead writers pitched a giant umbrella story that would involve the whole cast but Andrew Lincoln only wanted to know how well the story served to highlight the character of Rick more than everybody else.

Sounds about right. Everything tied to success from a shoot point of view is measured in eyeballs from ratings and dollar signs from who can sell the most merch. Whoever can gain both is always gonna be the one shoved forward first and foremost unless they're a Vince McMahon project or they can get good PR from you. The only times in recent history you'd hear otherwise are the Ryder burial and (allegedly) Punk's push after the pipebomb.

Pretty much, its stupid and backwards

If you listen to Al Snow Seth is't even using the concept of getting over properly.

Getting over is nothing more than emotional involvement and making people care about the face, thats it, getting emotional attachment to character.

:patrice:I agree with Max that there is a lack of crossovers and its badly needed in wrestling today.

Take the crusierweight division for example, the rules are that you have to be 205 pounds or less to qualify for the belt. In my mind there shouldn't be just a specific group of wrestlers bound to that brand but any wrestlers on Raw Smackdown and NXT that is that weight limit should be able to qualify to compete. Now you have guys like Enzo, Kalisto and even skinny ass James Ellsworth crossover to the 205 Brand to become legit threats to the Curiserweight Champion

For those who didn't watch, he basically talked about how the mentality of fairly making sure everyone gets over is prevelant(aka Even stevens 50/50 booking) and how during the attitude era it was about different people on the card crossover into each other's storylines mattering more to get over than just wins. He pitched the idea that things on Raw shouldn't feel separated and storylines should crossover including the crusierweights and an angle of Stroman attacking the crusierweights and them ganging up to fight back. Seth asked well "Who gets over" and Max said he got the mentality of why people are overly concern of protection but also felt storyline matters to move people along. He mentions he gets why people think that way cause its 2 mentalities between the writers v talent

I get where he's coming from. The fact is everyone is gonna complain about something. Like I can imagine some smarks liking that idea of the Crusierweights having a crossover angle to get over but I could also see the Meltzer/Alvarez/Greenfield/Pollack complain or question why Stroman as a monster pet project would be subjected to that or how not one specific cruiserweight got over.

On paper it would make for an interesting story but there's too many opinions to question or praise it to work and thats WWE. The shyt is almost too bloated with people's takes (fans included) for shyt to happen smoothly
