in the post hand check post hard foul era/ no dominate 7 foot rim protection era, Kobe still winds up settling for long jumpers more often than not. Even though it's easier now than ever to get to the basket.

If Kobe played in the late 80s and early 90s he'd logically have even An even lower fg% by having even less opportunities for high % baskets. People like laimbeer and rodman basically clotheslining nikkas and mutumbos Robinsons and Hakeem's getting alltime highs in blocks for the nikkas who actually get past the perimeter d.

What Jordan did was more impressive considering it would've been easier to eat off 3s. Tough hard baskets and still averaged more than Kobe

This is a logical post.

No point in actually debating. This autistic fool is trying to argue Kobe over Jordan. An average of 5 fewer points a game while shooting 5% worse from the field, 4 fewer league MVP awards, and one fewer title with fewer finals MVP awards with 5 different finals series all worse than Michael's worst dead that argument.

This.

I was about to start arguing, but there is so much retarded shyt on both sides of this debate that I ain't even gonna start throwing out pearls before swine.

In lieu of arguing against the really, really stupid shyt that ya'all have been posting, I'll just make three points.

* On a strategic level, defense was horrific in the 1980s. Players on most teams weren't even taught how to switch. Larry Bird has said that guys didn't even guard the three until the final 5 minutes of games. Zone defenses were illegal. Defensive strategy in the 1980s was awful, and as a result, scoring was easier. It only improved marginally in the 1990s.

(And I'm done with this thread. But go ahead and bring up "Jordan rules", a prehistoric strategy - in comparison to today's defenses - that 1 team used in the playoffs. Then watch Jordan's 6 NBA finals and show me where anyone was doing anything like that for 48 minutes/game. Not to mention 95% of the regular season.)

And in 30 years, people will be making the same ignorant statements about the defenses Kobe had to contend with - sports evolve. You can only judge based on what an athlete did against his contemporaries and Jordan DOMINATED his contemporaries more than Kobe did. Plain and simple.

:mjlol:@ this reaching ass stat. Jordan such a G.O.A.T. nikkaz gotta manufacture hypothetical stats just to compare.

Stop it, yo. Just stop it.

Exactly, instead of using what's already on paper...mufukkas wanna become Marvel comic-book writers with all the "WHAT IF" narratives they be trying to throw up in here...

Yeah if you're losing to some of the greatest teams in history and you eventually knock them off the top. Even if Magic wasn't forced to retire he would've caught consecutive L's. Kobe lost on a team with 4 hall of famers in the starting line-up to a "weak" East team. :mjlol:

IF MAGIC WOULDA NEVER RETIRED, THERE WOULD BE NO THREEPEAT FOR MJ.....THEY ONLY LOST THE 91 FINALS BECAUSE OF WORTHYS INJURY. THE TEAM WIT 4 HALL OF FAMERS = KARL MALONE WAS OUT OF HIS PRIME AND INJURED, GARY PAYTON WAS OUT OF HIS PRIME AND HAVING ISSUES WITH PHIL, SHAQ WAS FAT AND UNDERPERFORMING....BAD EXAMPLE.

Once again, you're assuming basketball is just about scoring points and shooting jumpshots in the gym. Lebron does not have the same offensive skills as MJ or Kobe, but he is a better passer and rebounder. Lebron is also a better defender than Kobe. What Lebron doesn't have is the killer instinct and heart like MJ and Kobe.

Basketball is more than jumpshots. You just have a hard time comprehending basketball in a basketball context.

HE'S A BETTER REBOUNDED BECAUSE HE IS BIGGER...ANOTHER PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTE. HE IS NOT A BETTER PASTER, HE'S JUST A MORE WILLING PASSER. HE'S A PASS FIRST PLAYER DUE TO THE FACT THAT HE'S A BETA, HENCE THE HIGHER ASSIST NUMBERS.

LEBRON BEING A BETTER DEFENDER THAN KOBE IS A JOKE LMAO....HE AINT SEEIN PRIME KOBE AS FAR AS DEFENDING GOES, LEBRON HAS TROUBLE MOVING LATERALLY. KOBE WAS A LOCK DOWN DEFENDER IN HIS PRIME DURING HIS HEYDAY. IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE.

NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT JUMPSHOT, U JUST BEIN DUMB....WE SAID FUNDAMENTAL SKILL, WHICH GOES FAR PAST HEART. LEBRON DEPENDS ON PHYSICAL ABILITY, KOBE AND JORDAN WERE FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND, FROM FOOTWORK TO SHOT MECHANICS. FOLLOW ME NOW MAYN.

Shaq scored 26.6 while grabbing 10.8 a game on 63% shooting. Kobe scored 22.5 a game on 38% shooting from the field and 17% from deep while taking an extra 29 shots than Shaq on a 5 game series. Give it up already.

So you never heard of the "Jordan Rules"? That was a whole defensive scheme designed for one player. The Pistons and later on the Knicks used that scheme to stop 1 player. Some of you Kobe fans never saw the NBA that Jordan played in. That league was physical as Hell. Jordan was getting mauled by guys like Rodman. Kobe couldn't even handle a dude named Tayshaun Prince.

Btw, Jordan was also being guarded by guys like Joe Dumars, Ron Harper (in his prime) Dennis Rodman and Dennis Johnson. Some of those guys were all league defensively.

YUP...JORDAN WAS HAVIN IT SO EASY THAT DETROIT HAD TO COME UP WIT THEIR OWN PHYSICAL/ILLEGAL FORM OF DEFENSE TO STOP HIM. BASED ON FOULING....BECAUSE DEFENSIVE SCHEMES WERENT AS COMPLEX AS THEY ARE TODAY.

MORON THE SERIES WAS LOST ON DEFENSE, AND SHAQ WAS FAT AND SLOW IN 2004. AND 26.6 IS NEARLY 10 POINTS LESS THAN WHAT HE WAS AVERAGING WHEN LAKERS WON TITLES...BUT IT WAS ALL ABOUT DEFENSE, AND SHAQ REFUSED TO COME UP ON PICK-AND-ROLLS..ALL THE LAKER PLAYERS+PHIL JACKSON VOUCHED FOR THIS. HE MADE EVERYONE ELSE LOOK BAD WITH HIS LACKADAISICAL EFFORT ON D, AND IT'S WELL DOCUMENTED.

So a horrific performance by Kobe had nothing to do with it :comeon:

LOL. The only people who think that there is a Jordan/Kobe debate are people that never saw Jordan play in his prime. Because there is no way that if you ever saw Jordan play in his prime that you would even think that this was a debate. Jordan took on all comers and owned them.

Kobe couldn't even handle a dude named Tayshaun. Seriously. Tayshaun Prince was waving off defensive help in that Detroit/LA Finals. He was letting the whole building know that he had Kobe. And the next time you write about Jordan; how about taking a look at the top 50 all time players. Is it just me or did about half of them play during Jordan's era?
