This dude is making a lot of assumptions. Not all, nor would I say the majority, of those revenues were generated from music that use the traditional beat maker/producer. What about bands that play instruments? Country music? Singer/songwriters singing over a single guitar?
I will agree, though, that there is plenty of different ways to make a living in the industry.

Just something to think about bc a lot of producers undervalue themselves. Maybe dude went a lil overboard but I agree with his overall point that we make the hip hop world go round along with all the businesses that rely on hip hop. Feel me?
I heard dj mustard talking about interploations....saying original composers/artist don't take as much money when you replay the sample instead of directly sampling the mastered/cdrip off off the official album....
