Hey all, as you can probably tell by my name, I'm a native Egyptian.. born and raised there but moved here at a fairly young age, attended all my schooling here, etc. I'm more or less American when it comes to my cultural tastes and values, etc., but definitely still identify as an Egyptian and come from a deeply rooted Egyptian family.

A few months ago, I just got out of a year long relationship with a black girl I'd known since high school. When I look back and think about it, I know a breakup was inevitable just because we had entirely different goals as people, and neither of us seemed willing to bend. Thing is though, I wonder if anyone in here has any experience with a relationship like this (not just a black/white thing, but from two completely different countries) and whether they could shed some light on the matter.

Just curious if anyone had any experience dating someone from an entirely different culture than theirs. I am well aware that I may be just baiting an onslaught of jokes and hate, but hey.

I've never been a racist myself, so it's hard for me to put myself in their shoes.

I dated a half japanese/half german chick for a minute a couple of years ago. She was visiting, and decided to stay so it was a like a storybook thing for a minute. Sht was coo, because there was always something to talk given that both of our worlds were completely foreign to the other, and we didnt have to deal with the obnoxious American racial hangups from both parties as barriers.

Sorry bruh, I wish I could. It was pure magic the first three months, but then she slowly started turning into a rotten bytch and a headcase. She was no good as far as I was concerned, and we went our separate ways. It was a shame cause we stopped talking, and then she texted me out the blue to tell me she was going back home. There was a finality to us that wasnt there for normal breakups.

Nah, I left her. Going to be applying to a graduate school in the near future and told her it might be out of state, and asked if she would want to come with me. She responded with some vague shyt about her job (works at Walgreens). It was obvious we were both losing interest but I told her we were better off looking elsewhere.

If you were going to grad school, and she was working at Walgreens....then yeah you definitely had different goals in mind.

Yeah. She was taking part time classes at a community college here in town to be fair... don't get me wrong she was not a stupid person, just unmotivated. And I came to realize that unmotivated girls generally remain that way until they realize it's too late.
