Less than the 90s? That's interesting

As for 1960-92 it would make sense because teams pleyed faster

Like who? Remember I said "dominant". Not good.
KAT is having a top 3 season for a big in the last 20 years breh. Only Blake and Brand has put up better numbers (Towns a much better player than both as a rook though). Easily the best for a rookie 5 since Duncan. And even Duncan played the 4 as a rook. Both Towns and Okafor have GREAT back to basket games and I think both will dominate in today's game for a long time.

Wait are people supposed to be surprised by this? Outside of the hack a deandre/drummond nobody goes to the foul line anymore on a consistent basis outside of Harden.

The game has changed and the the NBA is focused on keeping the game moving.

Not surprising at all.

The league has taken steps to make their game less physical and "fan friendly"...which is to say...more bland and marketable.
As a result, it's more profitable....but the quality of the product is inferior.

:manny:

Fighting in the NHL is also down.
And that product is inferior as well.

:coffee:

I'd argue that the frequency of fouls isn't as alarming as the punishment for what the league views as "flagrant" fouls. The threat of the flagrant foul has really affected the product on the court...certainly from a defensive standpoint.

And it's not because more 3's are attempted either. A higher percentage of fouls were called for 2 point attempts in other eras. :sas2:

What does this even mean in relation to threes? Players do not foul jump shooters as often as they foul players driving to the rim.

Lack of hand checking means players have an easier time driving past their guy rather than the guy being able to body up and do excessive contact to get a foul.

I mean there's nothing wrong with basketball in today's era, but this is a dumb argument when it's pretty obvious why free throw shooting is down.
