Took me a while to find the search area since it used to be a swipe to the left. Now u just swipe down when you're not in an app. Also like when sending a text for instance it has the word "tonight" or a time it'll be highlighted and you can tap it to set a reminder

Yah - and to "shut down apps working in the background" you just swipe up rather than use the little x's

Just re-download iOS7 when it drops officially on the 18th...maybe that will fix the problem since you're on a beta version

its dope compared to IOS6, but still a little buggy which will be fixed when its official.
however, multitasking doesn't really work, cuz apps have to reload most times. if I pause a song, it will forget it after a while. that shyt is very annoying.
