To be fair, all the other releases before this only had 1 model released. This new release has 2 different phones (5s and 5c) and they are counting the sales of 2 different phones as one.
Who said common sense has to be applied to Apple numbers? Its 6 models of the iPhone released as the colors each target a specific person and the new iPhone 5S.
But let's not let these silly facts get in the way.
Dumbest excuse I've heard. Cosmetic or space changes do not denote a completely different model.
Also, while 5s and 5c are counted as one (why the fukkk does that even matter, sales are sales) the 5c only sold 2 of the 9 million

Different colors =/= different models
The price and features are the same for all of the 5c. And either way the 5c isn't the big news here, it's taken the place of the 5 which I'm sure sold pretty well this weekend too.
It's the 7 million 5s sales that matter and the millions more people still waiting to buy one.
So once again. Where's this mistake apple made?
The mistake is that they released a midrange iPhone model and charging a high end price for it. They haven't had a sure fire hit and at best are treading water. 2 million for a new model iPhone? That's gotta be the lowest since the 2G model was released.
But hell don't take my word for it, just go by the stock price. They have dipped more than $100 per share in 1 year and just slightly rebounded because of these numbers.
