Glad I found this thread. Had an old 7th gen 160gb with a failed hard drive lying around. Watched a video on how to upgrade, and now it’s working again with 128gb SSD.
Seems like IPod classics are back in style again,

I have like 1TB of storage on my phone. Kinda makes having an iPod of this size trivial. I don't even use my Nano anymore. Hell my Apple Watch has more storage than the Nano.

From my understanding you can put 1TB in a 5th Gen iPod classic. There is something about the later models that doesn’t allow it, unless you manage your music with Rockbox instead of iTunes.

My next project is to get a cheap 30gb 5th Gen from eBay and upgrade to 512gb.

Does it have better audio quality? I just don't see a point to having an iPod when I mainly use Spotify and YouTube Music and my phone has that level of storage. I use Bluetooth earbuds and headphones. The iPod was just from a different era. I'd be missing a lot of music I actively listen to going back to just an iPod.

Sounds the same to me. You can get a Bluetooth adapter/receiver for like 10 to 15 bucks on Amazon to connect your Bluetooth earbuds to the iPod classic.

Don't think it's worth it in 2025 unless you're just going for a hobbyist factor.

An LG V30 to V60 is a better audio player for cheap, runs full Android, and can take a 1 TB SD Card .
