It is poison because it is corrossive, errossive, damages your internal structure and not meant for human consumption.
First of all you cannot even drink it initially. You must train your body to ignore its natural defenses against poisions to even ingest alcohols and ethanols.

If you give alcohol to a person that has never consumed it, projectile vomiting results (as with any poison the body identifes).
You either have to ween them onto it by sipping slowly over time, or force them to consume more even after vomiting repeatedly in order to eventually allow the regular consumtion of it.

Also, uf you consume large amounts your body will literally shut itself off to prevent further consumption (this is what a drunken blackout is) you will vomit, piss yourself, etc in an attempt to rid the substance from you, then you will be denied access to your own mouth/stomach via forced sleep... this is the body's attempt to preserve itself from the idiot that is poisoning it.

Poison.

Banning alcohol in medevial Arabia where production was unregulated and alcohol percentages were all over the place could have made sense. You could possibly make a similar argument about pork (more susceptible to parasites without sufficient refrigeration etc etc)

But all that falls apart today when we have greater manufacturing/brewing/storage technology, regulation, research and consumer education. Which is why the claim about "the book for all times" and its divinity doesn't stand up.

Alcohol is fine in moderation and may even have health benefits. The biggest benefit I've found thus far is it makes you not Muslim.

Alcohol exists naturally. Alcohols, ethanols, gasoline, all exist within the earth same as other acidic sulfurous chemicals.
The initial distilling process merely removes enough of the deadliest of the poison so that the remaining milder poison can be consumed without fatality.

If you drink undistilled alcohol you will simply die. Not kidney failure, or other mainstream affects of liquor... death.

On the other hand, if you drink poorly distilled alcohol you may be stricken wit a slew of maladies. A common one is blindness do to not removing enough methonal from the alcohol (a process that is supposed to occur durring a proper distilling). This is why moonshine runs a risk of making you blind.

Its all poisons.... so when you drink moonshine you are trusting Hillbillies to chemically remove invisible poisoin from itself in a scientific process.
No wonder you go blind.
