Irritating things that Youtubers do...

:stopitslime:

  • "Hey guys!"

  • "Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!"

  • Padding out the content instead of getting to the point

  • Clickbait

  • Pornstarlet money shot thumbnail face

  • Blatant shilling/infomercial tendencies

  • All of the above

  • All of the above to the 10th power

What would you pick from the list as the most irritating thing Youtubers do? So many of them all do the same things so they must be driving some kind of metric but I tend to avoid creators who do many of the things on the list, irrespective of content. I'd rather find someone who doesn't engage in these theatrics.

Its interesting because TikTok is almost the inverse of all of this. I'm guessing they don't have monetization or a different type of algo kicking in because its got to the point that between the ads (blocked) and how formulaic its become its long overdue some actual competition. Its sad because its obvious people must be hoop jumping because Simon Says and they want those checks but for the end user its not a pleasant experience at all any more.

Wonder if we'll see a renaissance?

Its just something I noticed about YT because some people create a platform that makes you want to pay as its worth it. Their model is the opposite and they make it so irritating via intrusive ads and a lack of features that you have to pay for a sense of normalcy.

The same thinking obviously influences the content creators so its a top down thing because why would so many people do it? Over the past few years its quite literally turned into an infomercial, especially that forced hi energy/pseudo charisma so many try and pile on.

Its like the product has been stepped on so much the fiends don't even care any more as they mill around copping whatever anyone is pushing as any distraction is better than actually living in the moment.

Don’t forget to like and smash the subscribe button

I swear, if your ish is good, you would NEVER have to say that because people would like and subscribe on their own.

Some good creators hardly, if ever, say that…
The way the algorithm works now they have to remind people to subscribe (and use the bell notifications) or else their content doesn't get seen.

I feel this is so true. If the content speaks for itself then why would you need the gimmicks? Unless they are requisites for getting into rotation but, even then, I don't get why people would purposefully want to irritate the viewer instead of keeping it a 100.

The fact some of them have the nerve to spend a few minutes on this preamble before even getting to the content is hustling backwards. Like Thugnificent selling crack.

“It’s ya boy…”

:comeon:

Thats the one. I couldn't remember the phrase because I instantly click off anyone who does this. "Hey guys!" is the closest I could get.

The way the algorithm works now they have to remind people to subscribe (and use the bell notifications) or else their content doesn't get seen.

Is this true? Does it even work because if the product is wack why would anyone care anyway and if its pure then they'll line up anyway. I thought there must be some kind of reason everyone does it. I actually suspected YT makes em say it and uses some kind of voice to text keyword tracing for monetization via engagement because it became so heavily pushed and common.

Its interesting to see what y'all think because everyone spends a heck of a lot of time on there these days and I was wondering if it was just me being easily irritated.

I genuinely forget to like and subscribe tho so I be kinda understanding it

Creators are able to see what portion of their viewers are subbed and usually it be outrageous numbers
