For some weird reason, I was reading Billboard magazine last night, and I learned three interesting facts about today's music business.

The famous David Geffen said, he'd kill himself if he was trying to get into the music business today.

There's a galvanized push to make EDM and IDM the number one saling music genre in 2013.

And, many execs were thrilled with Lyor firing.

#1 music genre for sailors? they tryna push it to the Navy & fisherman? they should get artists songs up on The Deadliest Catch & shows like that

Where would that label have been without those three artists?

Think back to Def Jam circa 1996/97 and how bummy and flabby it was. They hadn't had a new star in years, and were riding artists like Method Man, Redman, Warren G, EPMD, etc to gold plaques, barely keeping the lights on.

And Lyor, love him or hate him, has a track record that cannot be denied. Let's not forget he ran Rush Management for Russell when it was the biggest management firm in rap, before the Violators and Goliaths and all of that.

Didn't he also have something to do with Michael Geronimo?
