:wtf: 04?

:weezy: he had the radio on smash a lil longer then that breh

crunk transformed into that lex luger sound so i dont really feel like it ended

rockstar nikkas just turned in those metallica t-shirts for plaid button ups and supreme hoodies

nikkas still screw a shytload of sounds

hyphy the only one that truly died off imo :yeshrug:

I gotcha, I'm talking about the 2nd Timbaland renaissance that lasted from Nelly Furtado to Shock Value 2/Chris Cornell (which ended that shyt on the lowest note possible :to:)

You could argue that everything is just a continuation of something else if you say the Lex Luger sound originated from crunk (and trap music). A lot of the West Coast sound comes from shyt the Neptunes were doing in the early 2000's, while grimy NY gave way to jiggy rap (which was pretty similar in structure, sample + breakbeat) and RR shyt in the late 90's, which was pretty much a blueprint for 50 Cent.

I agree with what you're saying, it does seem like fads burn out a lot quicker these days, but all they're really doing is transitioning onto something else and we're seeing it all happen in real time because it's happening on the internet.

He on that Jay-Z status: yeah, they can sell records from their hardcore fanbases, but they looked at as them old rich rappers in the club, all out of place and looking awkward.

hardcore fanbase? If 3 million people are this crackas hardcore fanbase then  @ rappers pushing 200,000 units and thinking they are relevant. Here today gone tomorrow :merchant:

EMINEM
WAYNE

All peaked in the 00s and are falling off something awful.

I can see the 10s to be heavily drug usage, abstract and 3 in the morning type of lo-fi rap. imo.

agreed with the bolded

shyt, who doesn't want that Eminem support and large fanbase? lol 2013 is going to be one massive transitional year and it will probably be the first year that the typical trap rapper is gonna take a back seat.

Hip Hop born in 1973. Goes International in 1983. I think we all know how pivotal 93 was. I stopped paying close attention somewhere around 99 but I always believed the eras ran from the third year of the decade. Interesting thread. 2013 will definitely be the beginning of a new era.

The 2010's is the decade of the "retro rappers". All the kids who grew up in the 90s. If you were born between 87-94, you're between 25 and 18 now. Your formative years were from the golden era of hip hop or at the very least, you had older brothers & sisters who put you on game. What you're gonna see from alot of rappers this decade is nikkas taking what they grew up on, and repackaging it in a new way.

Dom looks like he should be in Boyz in the Hood

The J. Cole/Miguel joint sounds like somethin you would've heard back in the 90s/early 2000s :to:

Kendrick whole album is a throwback. This an ode to the classic 90s movie. He talkin about getting Janet in the video :krs:

I dont feel like talkin anymore but, I could find 100s of examples. Alot of these kids today grew up on 90s and they gonna try to recreate it this decade in their own way :manny:

All those rappers are boring as shyt to me. Joey Badass is audio Nyquil to me. Not saying they're not talented, but there's nothing worse than backpacker rappers emulating old ass sounds.
