Is a Chromecast the best way to go about streaming to my TV?

I'm just looking to stream videos from my pc to my tv. PS4 doesn't have the media functions that the PS3 had, and since I got rid of my 3, I'm shyt outta luck. Just moved my PC to its final resting point in my apt, so its inconvenient to try and just connect an hdmi from it to the tv. Is Chromecast my best bet in terms of easiest way to just view all my media or whatever the fukk.

NO. It's getting better, but if you really want a device that was designed for that, grab a Roku or a WD Live TV device...

Chromecast is really limited right now. If all you're trying to do is stream from Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu, etc then you won't be disappointed. If you're looking to do more don't get your hopes up. Do yourself a favor and go with a roku instead. Anything you'd do with a Chromecast you can do with a roku plus you can easily stream local media.

Install Plex Media Server on your PC & then you can run the Plex web app in the PS4's Web Browser at: http://plex.tv/web/app

Word. I'd prefer to spend under 50 for it, for sure. I plan on mainly watching hbo go/netflix and streaming local media. can the chromecast not stream local media?
