The UN would have to actually have teeth or a completely neutral country like Switzerland would have to be the global steward with other countries serving in a representative type system with votes proportional to a power metric

Who said anything about love? Is the United States about love? Is the European Union about love? Is the Republic of India about love? fukk no. All of them were born from hatred and live through hatred. But what is one thing all three of them have in common? Because these unions exist, because these 'One Continent Governments' exist, every tribe that lives within the union can no longer make war against each other. It wasn't like that before the union, in each case.
You need to read up on hegemony to see why it's a good thing - it stops war. War comes from anarchy, that is, the existence of lots and lots of small states, with no superpower above them that rules them all, a hegemon. The only way out of anarchy is hegemony.

Globalization is currently dying. Countries are looking out for themselves. The idea of a one world government is dead for another 2-3 centuries.

It's possible but it's not going to work like they want it to work. It's going to cause more war. People fighting for control. The world wants a King, a God, but there's only One worthy.
Even then powers that be will still find ways or rekindle old ways to fukk with us all. I will read up on that because I like to learn in general.

That by default grants them power and the possible diplomatic cooperation that other countries would have an open mind towards
Maybe an entity for representation of Earth for other reasons, but you can't rule everyone locally at that low level ... yet.
