Depends. There are valid reasons not to like some things about Cali. I really dislike LA, but I enjoy many other places in the state from Malibu to SD. To me the red flag is the people who claim state government regulations and taxes have crippled California...as if California isn't damn near the main reason the US is a dominant economic power. California alone has a better economy than multiple great western countries.
