Is "Aint No Ni**a" the WORST quality sounding song on a retail album?

Always thought it sounded like that cause Jaz took it off those fugazi ass Octopus breaks instead of the original record

He always said he went out and copped the "Seven Minutes of Funk" record after hearing how EPMD used it. But he also said he never programmed it right and did everything by hand and just sent it to Jay. So that joint might've been sourced off of a damn cassette for all we know.

I could see Master P saying this shyt too:laff:

I make music for the dope fiends and tweakers, what I look like mixing hits, and you got one speaker, see the P got the whole game mastered, ya'll caught up in the mix, but we pumpin' hits faster. Ugggh ---- Master P

I instantly think of Pimp Of The Year when I hear Aint No nikka. So I feel the same way about that song as I do Me And My Girlfriend(The Jay and Beyonce version:mjlol:

I blew up a car speaker once listening to Dah Shining because of volume difference. I think it was Bucktown that was much louder. It was a cheap temporary rental car but still, I'm always wary putting on that album.
That’s funny, I didn’t read this thread, but posted duck down straight away.

Never worried about it too much but in aesthetic and construction its actually one of the grimier songs on the album. Sounds like demo or mixtape quality. Its just a basic loop, as far as I can tell theres nothing added. The EPMD song is a much more produced higher quality mix. Classic song though, never understood why some hated on it.

A lot of 90s records were mixed funny. A lot of over bassy, muddy mixes with vocals low in the mix. Sometimes it works, other times its a weird choice because theres nothing going on in the high frequencies except rapping. There are certain songs that sound like you're listening to them through a wall or something. Still the greatest music era. That was more the hardcore sound of the early 90s, by the end of the 90s, the music sounded very slick and shiny.
