North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Even after the stock market crash and so called "great recession", it wasn't on a level of Brazil, Japan or Venezuela.

It would probably take all of the u.s. allies and trade partners, ceasing all trade agreements and dumping u.s. bonds on the market for that to happen.

BUT, if that were to happen, those allies would suffer as well. So to me, America is recession proof.

Even if it would, it'd basically just break up into how Yugoslavia did, through with little, if any notable acts of politically motivated violence....I hope not at least.

Civil unrest mainly if anything.

OP, you couldn't be more of the opposite thinking

Rome fell because the empire was too big, too vast, and too diverse to great unity under one rule

Sounds just like America :sas2:

When the 2008 recession happened, Russia actually secretly reached out to China to coordinate selling off US debts to take advantage of the financial situation in the US and send us crashing down. China refused because of the reliance on American stability.

However, the US, especially under Trump, well hell mostly because of Trump, is slowly being isolated by these countries in issues of trade and they are working to remove dependence on the US. There will come a time whether the US fails or not will not be a major concern for these countries

Other modern examples

Soviet Union, French colonies of West Africa, etc

The bigger the empire, the more likely it would fall :manny:

All bad examples.

There isn't a country or regime in history that you can compare to the United States, which is why I made this thread in the first place.

no land mass is "too big, too vast" with our modern communications/transportation/traveling capabilities

and yes as it stands right now, the world couldn't afford for the U.S. to fail
