I think this country clearly needs to forge a new national identity so that the American public can rally behind a common ideals of how this country should be shaped as we continue into the 21st century.

This country needs a momentary break from engaging in costly foreign military intervention, and instead focus on the festering domestic issues that have brought down the standard of living for most citizens. The fact that we couldn't pass an infrastructure bill is truly disheartening though.
Don’t worry, Trump is coming byke to implement those suggestions you made :ehh:

All where successful empires and all were diverse
:unimpressed:
Not true for Ancient Egypt.

Most of what is called 'Ancient Egypt' was ruled by people native to that land.

You're talking about a 2,500 year period (From about 3,100 to 600 BC). Within that time, one dynasty was foreign (the Hyksos). They ruled for about a 100 years.

The late period (around 600 BC onward) when first the Nubians, then the Assyrians, then the Persians ruled (25th - 29th dynasties). With the 30th dynasty, native Egyptians took it back for about 40 years (this was the last native Egyptian dynasty). Then started the Greeks, then Romans.

Again, for a good 2,500 years there was native rulers.

Their culture was so strong it lasted for 2,500 years virtually uninterrupted. That's longer than any culture in the history of the world.

Even after the Persians and the Greeks conquered Egypt, they kept calling themselves Pharaohs. So invaders adopted their culture. So it's actually closer to 3,000 years.

If we use the Shang dynasty as a starting point, Han Chinese culture is over 3500+ years old and continuing.

From a quick google search I'm seeing 2,600. I'm pretty sure the Mongols conquered all of China in the middle ages.

People who immigrate here for the most part don't think of themselves as Americans. Chinese people still look out for chinese people, Mexicans look out for Mexicans, Ethiopians look out for Ethiopians. I look at all the cultural and religious divides here in this country and I don't see a melting pot, I see a powder keg that is waiting to explode.

Just give it time, they will be assimilated. Might take some more generations than others, but if black people eventually cried out Toby, they will all assimilate:francis:

I think as a nation the fact we don't force anyone to assimilate into the culture here, but allow them to continue to do their own thing is going to come back to bite this country in the ass.

Thats partly because we do our best alienate anyone who isn't a white Christian.

Diversity isn’t the problem, the problem is you still got 80 year old white people hoarding spots
Definitely. I blame old people for most of our country's issues. It's insane that we allow 80+ year olds to run our government. They are out of touch, sometimes not mentally capable due to their old age, and are stuck in there old ways. There should be term limits on senators and the supreme court. The people that watch Fox News all day and who have the most power in this country are senior citizens. I read a quote somewhere, where they said change only occurs when the old guard dies. The world can't change until those old folks die off of old age. The differences between the 20-30s and 70-80s is so insane. They live in two different worlds.

People don’t want to give up power, and Lowkey I’m not sure if the old heads are really preparing people to be leaders
But the main issue is black people and people who aren’t trying to be accepted by white people aren’t represented enough in positions of power
