So you rather put the earnest on the potential consumer to figure out a company's intentions versus the people who came up with the marketing plan? It's not the consumers fault people who are paid to be smart went about their jobs like idiots. I wonder if a company that sells oven cleaner would have as much leeway if they featured a Jew cleaning an oven when they said "we have the same ad featuring other groups of people too!"
wow this is a reach

the Adidas logo is big and bold - so we know its something to do with sports
pogba is featured on the poster - so we know its something to do with football

hmmm... so sports, and football, what could he be advertising, perhaps a football boot?

that's how simple the logic is for this, not to mention predators are the most popular football boot EVER, not to mention pogba is the most popular footballer at the moment next to messi, and this from a guy that doesn't even like football yet I know that.

so we have two options left, don't allow a black man to advertise the football boot, because ignorant americans may not know what the deal is

or change the name of a boot that has been popular since 1994.

so which one is it?

What's great about your post you are completely oblivious to any other reality that isn't your own. In America people don't care about soccer to the degree they do the other major sports much less a soccer shoe lol. One of the biggest rules in marketing is to promote using assumptions. If you want more money you have to reach new people who may not have known about you yesterday All we have to go on is it's an ad from Adidas. By you going into a bunch of detail about the history of the shoe only illuminates my point. I don't need to know that nor do I give a fukk to at that point. Advertisers are skilled enough to get their point across with minimal time and few words. Market your product to me in a manner that makes sense not to make me put my guard up. I can't speak for others but it's natural for me to key in on the message below the face based on the formatting of the ad. The adidas logo is visible but that's beside the point. Nobody is going to take culpability for these mistakes even if there intention was harmful. This stuff has been going on in one form or another since reconstruction.

Wasn’t Angela Rye out their campaigning for Hilary Clinton? Seems like this type of verbiage and imagery should be right in her lane.

I respect your comments and although this thread kind of went the usual "off the rails of commenting" as any comment section on the internet, I appreciate this post.

But I highlighted the above sections of your post because I had some issue with what you were saying.

Aren't we all of the understanding that this thread is mainly about whether Angela Rye was reaching w/ her entire statement?

She indicated that the ad was devastating. She gave her reasons. Brehs aren't defending a racist ad; brehs are giving their opinion on whether the ad was even racist at all.

Secondly, when I saw the young black man's face on that ad, I saw the face of an athlete being "locked in" on some competitive sports killer instinct shyt. I think we have opened up another interesting discussion since you seem to believe his serious face and the predator name of the sports product paints him "in such a negative way."

I'm not coming at you but we should ask questions on what does it mean that well meaning brehs who care about their people can still exhibit bias towards a fellow black man who has his face in virtually the same manner as a non black athlete in other ads.

There is nothing "scary" about that ad unless you feel a negative vibe coming from him.

We shouldn't be feeling a negative vibe from him.

Sorry for the essay.

I don't think Angela was reaching, but I don't think the ad was devastating either. There's been worse shyt, but I will say that it was done in bad taste and it does show the dude in a negative light to me. That's my personal opinion. I for one would not like to be promoted or advertised in such a manner. I still applaud Rye for pointing out some subtle racist shyt tho.

Dude doesn't look like he's serious or locked in to me. Dude looks pissed off. I mean dudes eye brows are arched downwards like he's scowling hard as fukk. Then you add the dark background and bold red letters saying predator with no shoes or other words to provide context. If they would have put the shoe on the ad somewhere, we wouldn't even be having this convo.

I appreciate the respectful manner you addressed the situation with. I'm not here to change anybody's opinion, but only to state my own. We can disagree breh and its all good.

the irony, is that you are oblivious not I. most countries other than America know who pogba and pradator boots are. so what would you suggest? black people not be apart of the campaign?

I would probably be on her side if it wasn't for that big ass Adidas logo up there. We pay hundreds of dollars for these little computers in our pockets... why not just google this shyt and research what it is before just straight going off on it?
I said what you said and a cat in this thread told me why would they do that when they can just be outraged because the message isn't super clear to him who wasn't going to cop the shyt anyway. People love to be outraged to show how woke they are

I mean I would have joked about it being :mjpls:, but wouldn't have tried to really call people out about it because it's easy to that it's like some sports shyt. Not a fight I would have tried to put out there.
