He is the worst #1 pick between the NBA and NFL...He shouldn't of been the pick in the first place Chris Grant was trying to be the smartest person in the room for the 2nd year in a row right after picking Waiters.

Olowokandi and Kwame Brown were all clearly better players than Bennett I mean seeing as how the lasted at least until the end of their rookie contracts.

nba rookie contracts are shorter now though

How was he in college? What pick were most projecting him to be?

He was decent most people had him mocked anywhere from 6-11 but no one and I mean no one had him mocked at #1 I remember leading up to that draft it was talk of us taking Noel, Oladipo and even considering Otto Porter even Alex Len there wasn't a clear cut #1 since Noel was expected to miss most if not all of the season.

Another one of LeGM's failures. The Cavs would be lit by now if he hadn't run them into the ground with all those decisions like drafting Bennett, Waiters, and TT with top-4 picks, signing Bynum, giving up three draft picks to get Deng, letting Livingston and Speights walk, etc.

Imagine how good the Cavs could have gotten by now if they hadn't let Lebron call all the shots?

I think what makes it the worst pick ever is just how much of a reach it was to draft him number 1. At least with other busts at the top you can look at it and say it was a reasonable pick that anyone would've made. With Bennett no other team would've took him one by all reports. So for him to then be a huge bust compounds. If you reach that hard it better turn out.

On the flip side that whole draft was garbage for the most part so it's not like there's somebody they passed over that could be reasonably expected to take that turned into a huge star.
