Is any degree actually "worthless"?

I've been thinking :patrice:

If somebody has a scholarship to school, and their passion is to run an art museum or teach art history... wouldn't an Art History degree be worth it to them?:jbhmm:

Some degrees might be worth-less, but as far as I know none of them are completely worthless.

Just about everything outside of most STEM and like accounting (w/ certs). Unless, you went to a top school, all that other shyt won't get you far unless you got a great network.

Best pick up a trade if that other shyt ain't for ya.

You really believe all non stem degrees are a waste of time? :gucci:

:mjlol:

I'm a bio major and even I don't believe that.

only as worthless as their holders.

That's why I think too, if the degree aligns perfectly with what you want in life and makes it easier to obtain, why not get it?

A ton of jobs require a degree, and if what you want requires one you might as well get it and put your all into it:manny:

Obviously you won't be ultra successful with a art history degree, but again, if running an art museum is your goal in life, why not?

If your degree is in something with a trash job market. All you can do with something like Ethnic and Women's studies is teach a college course, which is a competitive field. If you didn't have the foresight to minor in something else then your degree is just a $60,000 reminder of being a fukk up.

Shout out to my Liberal Studies folks

If the job market is favorable fine. But don't get a degree in something with a shyt job market and turn around and complain about not finding a job.

Pull yourself up by your bootstraps :cacjpls:

:ehh:No degree is worthless most corporate jobs are asking for atleast bachelor's. I work in IT the data analysis side my co workers got psych degrees, geography.

If interviewers fukk with you they'll over look it. Infact most never even see your actual transcript HR does.

No they aren't worthless, it's still not like having no degree.

But it's the value is highly overstated, like, you're probably expecting to find a job but these days they want you to have the degree and the 'corporate street skills' that only really come from work experience. Stuff like networking and operating within a corporate environment which you don't ever learn in school

You could do this without having that degree. If you want to teach art history you could likely do that holding any degree. Running a museum you're going to have to intern at a museum most likely and work your way up. Much better for you to major in something more "marketable" therefore if you do decide to change your mind or if you can't break into that field you'll have other options.

Depends on what you get out of it. I'm about to get my B.S in Sociology but I've met so many people all throughout Orlando that be into so much shyt in what I'm trying to do (music, in many different forms) that it was worth it, degree itself may not do anything for me but what came with getting it, that's worth it, cause if I ain't come to school here I'd be deadlocked
