Only thing he inherited was an experienced army. Alexander's campaigns were his own, he saved his father's life twice in two different battles only to have his own father try to kill him at a banquet. He wasn't even suppose to rule after his father

Yall should look up a certain ethnic group called the Chukchi.

They are a bad ass people that have only numbered around 10000 but they successfully resisted Russian colonization in the far northeast of Asia. They even allied with Iniut (Eskimos) to build 1000-2000 man armies in the deep tundra of the arctic. They got defeated by the amount of wealth they could get from Russian trade and disease, but Russia ceased military conflicts with them. So that's a win in my book.

Whats crazy is that they are barely in their metalurgic age. They use mostly bones and ivory and stones as weapons. Vanishingly small amounts of metal usage before the Russian conquest of Siberia.

To put it in context, that would be like the Comanche whooping the American colonists ass without guns.
