Disclaimer: If I'm way off with this, go ahead and tell me why. I'm open to being corrected.
I gotta make this clear: I'm very pro-women's rights. I believe that women should have the same rights as men for the following reasons:
Here's the thing, though: I've found the recent internet feminist craze really unsettling and insulting to men in general. Here are some issues that I see addressed most by these poor victims:
When it comes to guys in the friend zone, are they annoying? Yeah, probably. Did they play the game wrong? Obviously. Are they naive, borderline dumb? It'd be a safe bet to say so. However, are they to be considered sexist or borderline rapists that just use a different tool set to commit their terrible crimes of serial simping? No. It's overly intense hyperbole that is extremely insulting to a guy that just wanted to show affection to someone he had feelings for and was too dumb to think of a more effective way to do it.
If a woman finds a man creepy, he's fukked. I mean, really fukked. He's going to be judged, scored, spurned, and otherwise despised because someone said he was creepy. It sucks, but it's true. Kinda the same way a woman gets labeled a slut. If a guy is labeled a creep, nobody wants him, nobody wants to be associated with him, and he gets treated like shyt, a lot of times just because he was awkward or didn't look right. This isn't a "women's rights" issue, this is an issue of people needing to get over themselves.
Not even gonna waste much time on the fat thing. Declaring yourself sexy despite being grossly overweight makes people look delusional, not sexy.
I think we all know why manipulative use of the court system and ripping apart families for selfish interests is bad.
I know, I know, "If MEN get to have sex with lots of women, why are WOMEN judged so negatively for it??? HUH?? HUH???" I'll tell you why: The sexual marketplace is set up for men to be pursuers and women to be sought after. Making it near effortless to be with you diminishes the value of physical intimacy because at some point, everyone had a chance to have said experience. It's awkward to have to think of the many, many partners a woman might have had before you. It can actually become cringe-worthy if she's been with guys you know and/or run into on a regular basis. You begin to wonder if you can compare to her past partners and please her if you know she's had such a... rich past.
I know that the go-to response for telling women to watch out for sexual predators is, "DON'T RAPE!!!!" We know not to rape. That's why we tell women to be careful in a dangerous world out there. Are we going to tell that a women's self-defense course instructor that his or her time would be better spent reminding random men to not rape? The posters you see all over college are put up with good intentions, I'm sure, but I'm almost certain that the number of rapists that have been stopped by them is slim to nil. We have laws against rape. Most, and I mean around 99% of men, would beat the hell out of a rapist if he caught a rapist in the act. Telling us that our default mode is to rape and that we should be reminded not to is far more insulting than a reminder that there are violent criminals out there to be wary of.
I gotta make this clear: I'm very pro-women's rights. I believe that women should have the same rights as men for the following reasons:
- It's good policy because in an information based economy and information based society, we need every person's mind working optimally to contribute whatever he or she can.
- Not allowing women dominion over their bodies is bad fiscal policy. In fact, for every dollar put into planned parenthood, 4 dollars get saved in the long run in government spending.
- I love educated women. I love when a woman can engage me mentally and draw me in, telling me ten things that I don't already know, or showing me new perspectives in life or her interests.
- Allowing women to do the same things as men do contributes to the idea that we are indeed a free society and that we are a step above those that we profess to be against ideologically.
- I've seen in my own family what a morally grounded, educated woman can do when given the opportunity.
Here's the thing, though: I've found the recent internet feminist craze really unsettling and insulting to men in general. Here are some issues that I see addressed most by these poor victims:
- Hostility from guys they've friend-zoned.
- Guys they find creepy because they're scraggly, unkempt, and look like a movie portrayal of a criminal.
- Being called fat for being fat.
- Being criticized for trying to divorce their way to a better husband, ripping their family apart in the process.
- Being judged for getting run through by tons of random guys.
- Being advised to not go out in a bad neighborhood at night because there could be bad people that commit sexual assault out there. You know, the same way we advise people to not join a pyramid scheme or to lock their car doors in the same neighborhood?
