Saw this conversation going around.

People saying it’s boring, classist, judgmental, etc…

I can see how it would come off that way if you think someone is trying to judge you, but I also see how it’s just an icebreaker to a conversation

Asking someone what they do for work has gotta be in the top 3 most common questions to ask a stranger, whether on a date or just a random encounter. It’s how people judge if you’re worth conversing with or not. :yeshrug:

I absolutely fukken hate this question. Its hard to explain to someone you are retired when you still look like you're 25. People can't comprehend the fact that you dont have to work until you're 80.

I don't think it is in the United States tbh. Almost everyone's stability or lack thereof is tied to their job.
