Actually there are lots of blacks in Chicago that live just fine. Some of them post here.

I don't care for the south, I don't care for the south's history, or its people (ALL of them) and living here in Canada (which you have never been) I don't have any of the problems the south does. Toronto had 55 murders. in a city of 3 million. NYC is the safest large city anywhee. None of the southern cities can say that. In the south you are a walking target as a black man.

Atlanta is a microcosom of the U.S. There's a lot of universities/colleges, and several Fortune 500 companies. Emory, Geordia Tech, are two top tier universities. Real estate, cost of living is low. If you have a education, you can pretty much live comfortably. But if you don't, black or white, you're gonna be on the south side smoking crack, trapping; if you're a female you gonna be tricking, or stripping.

I live here and there are a few reasons I don't plan on moving

1) Hartsfield International Airport - It's the most convenient airport that I've ever used. I can get anywhere I want without having to deal with connecting flights. It's also a Hub for Delta.

2) Home Prices - Real estate in the parts of town that I want to live in are reasonable. You get space down here for your money.

3) Job/Career - I've never experienced a shortage of available jobs here. I work in IT so that probably has something to do with it, but its a plus to me nonetheless.


In terms of chicks I'm married so its off my radar. When I was single I didn't recognize a shortage of attractive chicks.

and how you figure that? new york city have more black executives, business owners, entrepreneurs, power brokers than atlanta or anywhere else in the south. not cause they're not the loudest about it or don't identify as black owned or whatever and don't show up in black enterprise that don't mean they don't exist.

the top black executives are from this area or live here. ursula burns chairman & ceo xerox born bred in the projects and still lives in nyc and kenneth chenault ceo of american express just to name a few. not to mention black power brokers such as jeh johnson who advised and backed both obama and kerry and is a major fund raiser for the democrats in the tri state area. plus there are alot black wall street executives and fund managers such ronald baylock of gennx360 capital.

dude this ain't no pissing contest i'm glad for whatever success my peeps in the A are enjoying but the fact is is that nyc is the center of money and power in this country/world and if we as a people want to play a part in it we have to have some pull here.

I ain't even homo or not even remotely attracted to men, but that shyt is just in the 21st century. This ain't the 90s no more where gays are scared to death and praying for their safety. You on some white supremacist shyt with that. Beating up gays can get you extra years in prison nowadays and I rather enjoy life with attractive women with my freedom . ATL is good if you know where bad women are at.

NYC, in money and social life, benefits SOME people. Maybe a handful of black folk, but even then, for a black man, I went to different places and the educated black folk in the likes of ATL, Houston, DC, and even in Durham, NC have better opportunities nowadays. I think that @MikeBrownsJob is trying to say that sometimes that black folk need to talk alternative routes to reach our goals.
