Is Averaging 10+ Assists While Averaging 5+ TOs Actually Impressive??

And yet Curry still creates more scoring opportunities for his team. :wow:
That guy near the bottom of the list? :heh:

Only reason he isnt the very bottom is Russ has more turnovers. Curry isnt even in the same ballpark as the others when it comes to assisting teammates. :yeshrug: #factsonly

Assist to turnover ratio is heavily flawed anyway. You're not always turning the ball over on passes/to get assists, but when you're looking to score. Harden and Westbrook do have high turnover rates, but they also do average 30 ppg.

This is what happens when you let the box score dictate the way you view the game. You're like 10 years behind me.
Thanks for letting us know why you've had a vendetta against traditional stat-keeping here for awhile - because they show guys you dont like (like Paul) in a better light than guys you stan (like Curry.)

Its fine, though, we can switch it. I know in past conversations you expressed a desire to focus more on deeper analytics than traditional boxscore numbers, so...

Which advanced metrics would you like to compare, Gil? PER? VORP? Assist percentage? Turnover percentage? Steal percentage? Box+/-? Offensive winshares? Defensive winshares? Offensive box +/-? Defensive box +/-? Winshares per 48minutes?

I'll save you the trouble:

Chris Paul is better in all of them than Stephen Curry.

It adds up man. If 2 players take 1600 2 point shots a season at 40% and another hits at 45%.
Player A = 1280
Player B = 1440

NO, nicca

I'm talking about comparing two marquee players

If iverson shoots 40 percent while being the only viable offensive option on his team, and ray Allen shoots 45 percent on a team where guys can shoot and create their own shot, then the difference in their fg percentages doesn't tell the full story

You just posted a long line of acronyms that are mostly just traditional box score stats glossed up with new calculations. You ARE ten years behind if you dont even understand what analytics is.

And I'm a huge Paul fan who has gone after GSH on his CP3 hate multiple times before

Of course it doesn't tell the full story, everything is part of a puzzle. There could be different proximities of shots. Rings don't tell the full story either.

Agreed I just think passing and there assist numbers are overrated in terms of the MVP argument. I don't think the assists number alone proves that are great passers like the numbers would say
