Him tying NBA ratings into it is kind of a reach imo...

But he is right that Basketball on a youth level has become IMMENSELY INDUSTRIALIZED.

I tell my son all the time that he is entrenched in a world that didn't exist when I was a young hooper.

Non-stop club ball all year, Travel squads, constant camps, Many kids have personal trainers.

And this is not even counting High School ball and many people think that is going extinct at a major level because of the Club's and Prep schools taking players away constantly.

To make it in basketball kids are training all year around like a young Golfer, tennis player, Gymnast, ect .....

The Days of hooping with your boys around the way and playing at your local public school and still making it are basically over.

The people say they miss those days when you can go from the park to the league. But also clown the older generation for not having a left hand, and terrible ass jumpers. Where do they think that skill gap came from :pachaha:

This is bigger than ratings. It’s not about the basketball being trash and more about people not relating to the culture

But the culture of hoops is people like us are going to send our kids to the same camps and trainers. Because we are always going to upgrade what we couldn't have.

The first gap i saw, was adjustable basketball goals being affordable. I had a goal that my dad put on a random ass pole, but I lived in a trailer park so nowhere to dribble because the dirt was like quick sand.

But I could practice my jumper all day everyday, but had trash handles. Now if I was to have kids I would already know, just a basketball goal isn't enough because the people that were my age and skill range that went to the next level all had access to a gym. Before school, after school, weekends. So I'm sure people that even had access to a gym that didn't make it would go "he needs individual training year round".

No good rivalries

Plus to many games. No one has the time to watch every game so they probably aren’t invested
