I grew up with reverse role models.

However....wayne inspired me to work hard and and think I am the best.

Cudi inspired me to be one with my feelings and express my feelings.

:manny:

I had inspirations...not role models.
That's dope but would you feel some type of way if one of your inspirations contradicted their philosophies or did a 180 on their inspiration presentation?

I honestly don't get the hype about celebrities and never have :yeshrug:

I'm just not impressed.

They are people like me.

Maybe it's bc I don't think any body is above anybody. Plus I'm not a follower so it's really hard for me to get "into them" even if I like a certain talent they bring to the table. Idk I'm just not that worldly or superficial with the attention span of a goldfish.
lol yeah when you first joined the Coli I could tell off the bat that you are one those people that are not easily swayed by peer pressure and outside influences. You made a great thread in the salon about women and cosmetic surgery. Some of the other Brehettes shared that they had surgery done to be like these "reality" stars and Instagram Idols. After reading what they shared would you agree that D, C, B and A list celebs intentionally/unintentionally set standards? Some posters in here believe being a celeb or public figure is just a status.

it's definitely not just a status even tho it is.

Smart adults knows it's just a status but many people really uphold these stars to higher standards. I honestly don't know why.

I really think it's media. People need to turn off the TV and stop letting it raise their kids. A child who doesn't have self esteem already and goes on Instagram and see all the cool "toys" people have or bodies the women have want that. They don't understand it's "just TV".

They don't understand that you can't have 22 inch waist with a 43 inch ass. They are lots of followers and what seems to be people "liking" them and they want to be liked as well.

Idk it's just so deep.

Ok then, what about those celebs like Kim K or other highly publicized celebs like Bill Maher, Bill Cosby or Ice Cube? Would you consider them role models?

This is how being a role model works:
If someone is aware of you, they use your deeds and trajectery to determine whether they should attempt to emulate your path.

Normally, a person is known to their own family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

When you become mass appeal via celeb, more ppl know you than is normal. So more ppl are able to decide whether to emulate you or not.
There are huge celebrities like Casey Anthony and Carrot Top, etc that ppl don't really see as concensus role models. Being a role model isn't about how many ppl know you, that only allows more ppl to decide on you. Its about your body of work and whether others consider it a path they want to follow.

I always enjoyed Ol'Dirty b*stard's songs. At no point ever did I think "One day, that'll be me. One day, I'll be an old dirty b*stard just like him."
Thats ridiculous.

Certain ppl are not cut out to be role models via their own visable day to day moves.

And a person reveals themself via their role models. So to your point, if I met a girl who looked up to Kim K... I'd know thats a stuck up, self-centered, narrcissist lazy c*nt that wants to lay up off nikkas.

Of course.

Kanye fans LOST :russ:

And Wayne disappointed with the c00nery smh

Since you're a Wayne fan and you are still objective enough to call out his c00nery lol. I assume you would agree that it wasn't unreasonable for Killer Mikes fans and followers to call him out for initially giving his homeboy Bill Maher a N-word pass?

But what about the young girls who watch MTV and VH1 that aspire to be like the Kim Ks, Cardi Bs and Amber Roses? Surely in between their organizing slut walks, posting nudes on social media and filming for love and hip hop they've noticed that kids are also watching how they present themselves. Two of them have kids of their own. Should they be held accountable for leading young girls astray?

They aren't leading girls astray, they are herding girls with those inclinations into a compartmental group of their peers.
The same percentage of whores existed beforehand, they were merely dispurst among the sea of women. Now, they have a pillar to stand by and a name to call themselves.

There are girls that are whores and girls that are not, and the two do not cross over.
On the line are girls that can go either way.

Pulling a wavering person in one direction or another is often frowned upon when the direction is counter to the moral compass of the observer.. but objectively, undecided impressionable persons will be swept up by whatever fad is present at the time. What followers tend to do holds no real weight. They are robots. Proxies. Only the will of the innovators ever move the needle.

No free-thinker can be held captive by nonsense for very long.

Yeah. It seems like he defended him before criticizing him which was kinda backwards.

But the joke wasn't funny. He couldbhave easily said "house slave" instead but that joke sounded like what a black person would say in response to that smfh.

But I don't think its fair to call killer mike a c00n after all he's done and trying to do for the black community.

What about the young middle school/Highschool Brehettes that these women sell their thot theology to? When would it be appropriate to hold them accountable for using Women's empowerment as a ruse for hoetry?

Its just a "by chance" status IMO. I mean these people aren't gods (even though some people sure praise them by that STANDARD) They are still just regular people.. with a bit more attention and some funds.

I don't think he is a c00n either but do you think he should be completely immune from criticism because of his work in the black community? Or should he be more subjective to criticism because of his work in the black community? If Martin Luther King or Malcolm X said Bill Maher's joke was funny what do you think wold happen breh?
