Is being a 'Streamer' the best way to eat off hiphop now? :

How many streamers eat?

It seems as if 4-5 guys eat 90 % of the market

People always do this they compare the top podcasters vs an average rapper, no Kendrick and Drake vs Joe Budden and Kai

It looks like a small group of young black men and women eating but on the whole it is very very expansive. Mostly Gamers and dudes are really blowing up like KSI and stuff. It's good they can eat but like they said earlier in the thread you really need some sort of electrifying personality or theme. I also noticed most are early to late 20s so these are young heads.

I think at ground level no K Dot level, you can still turn a handsome profit knowing the start up investment was easily attainable. ie. Less than 250 dollars.

But if you go into other things it has nothing to do with rap or rappers.

Gaming streamers been here for decades.

Then you have like 100k content creators, people streaming talking about trips in Japan, talking about food, news, politics, sports, the Bible, every tv series out etc.

And in all those different fields there’s a few cats that dominate.

That’s why I’m assuming that we are only talking about those that have some type of affiliation with rappers as the question was “in hiphop”. Otherwise we might say that becoming a partner at a white shoe law firm or a portfolio manager in some fund is the best way to eat

You made a dope point I thought you were talking about streamers in general so I dropped a couple examples. You mean within hiphop then you are correct there are only a few and mostly non-black like Adin Ross and that Jack Doherty guy. A few KSI, Ishowspeed, DJ AK, Kai Cenat keeping it within hiphop.

I think hiphop might still be a niche in streaming not podcasting. Podcasting you need a set-up money for streaming you are good to go with any equipment.

Online is flooded with content creators. I still think there is niche in there I feel like a 'Boondocks' type hiphop thing will take off as well as all these new avenues popping up. It's looking like being behind in the backstage is more profitable than being on stage within hiphop these days.

No one should be picking a path that they think they could make the most money in, in Hip Hop.

You should be doing what you're actually good at. Not chasing whatever because you think you'll make the most money doing it. Most people who try that, for that reason, fail.
This is exactly how shyt gets souless and watered down

Black folks was the last ones to find out that streaming is poppin now it's the new "rapper":mjlol: :francis:

“Being talentless is the new talent” Murda Mook

All these steamers/podcasters/content creators are breaking the bank, talentless as fukk, 😂😂. All you need is a personality that people are drawn to and you goody, people are easily (and cheaply) entertained nowadays, everybody’s madd stupid today lol.

🤷🏽‍♂️, can’t knock nigs hustles tho, I ain’t never been no hater, I love seeing my people get to it legally and on the up and up, however they do it, 🫡. My little cousin (she’s like 32) is a huge huge Kai Cenat fan, all she post is his shhit on her Facebook. What does son even do? What is she even a fan of? 😂🤷🏽‍♂️
Calling streamers talentless is just hate:manny:

You don't have to like it but holding people's attention for hours at a time is not some shyt that just falls out the sky

Depends on what you consider eating

People always focus on the multimillionaires but you don't have to be Kai to make a decent living as a streamer

Content creation in general is about how much of an audience you can maintain. The minimum twitch sub is about $5-6. Twitch takes half so let's say that's $3/month for you. Let's also say you have around 700 subs. That's $2100 a month. Objectively not bad income but...

Streaming can be very time consuming. So if you're not prepared to maximize resources and time management you can fukk yourself over, especially depending on how you live

For example I know someone that got a decent following on twitch as a fighting game player. At his peak he made about 45k in a year. Not bad right? Until you learn that he quit his job to stream full time:huhldup: this caused a severe downgrade in lifestyle as his job was making him considerably more than 45k/yr. But you also have streamers with full time jobs and a decent following which makes streaming great side income for them. And you have full time streamers making high 5-6 figures. And this is not even accounting for things like donations, endorsements, and complementary platforms(YouTube, tik Tok, social media)

Long story long there's an entire spectrum of people "eating" off streaming. It just depends on your individual desires.

Social media is garbage and contributes little if anything of value to the world

If that's your path you may as well just drop some bullshyt crypto scheme. It's all the same grift

Hip hop is an art form that grew out of the streets--the actual physical streets, not the internet. Social media is not hip hop

You dont think Streaming is profitable or worth it? Interesting.

They make a lot cash and get a lot of clout too. These streamers got all the chicks and checks well I assumed lol.

Personally I do not understand what Streamers actually do or what type of benefit or entertainment value you can get from it. It's this generations thing though and Podcasting is still there but I think it is dying down a little.

Thanks for the input though, it's real.
I mean, you’ve got to actually be good at streaming (marketing yourself) for it to be worth it. That’s like saying you should go into rapping because Drake got rich doing it or you should go into basketball to make money because LeBron got rich doing it. There’s millions of streamers out there; it’s like anything else with a low or no barrier to entry and that requires no education/certification. You can make crazy money off of it but only a small percentage are gonna make that.
