I love it. Year 13 for me. All in middle school.

Been at some tough schools for sure, but I love my students. Love being a role model and providing opportunities.

Planning to retire in education and get a pension.

Let me know if you have any specific questions

Are you "teaching to the test?" Struggling schools with poor performing students tend to focus on standardized testing too much. Successful schools already know even their bottom kids can pass state tests...so they can focus on a more well-rounded curriculum.
This is the biggest issue from what I've been told. Test scores are the highest priority for the administration and don't care about the students actually learning and developing. Even heard instances where teachers had no option but to pass students to next grade without turning in a single homework assignment all year.

Source: family member that was a public school teacher and tutor for nearly 30 years

Depends on the school. This girl I dated relocated to a school in North Louisiana. The school land has oil getting pumped out of it. She and school gets monthly bonuses. Plus the kids arent super bad.

I guess it depends on the city

In NYC you can easily make 70K and up being a teacher plus all the paid time off they receive

The whole summer off all major holidays winter break spring break

Doesn’t seem like a bad gig to me
WFH people feel they need a nap after a zoom meeting. Teachers need that time off.

Students can be good or bad, but it's worse if you have bad administration. All the good that you as an educator, or a collective staff have, goes out the window if bad administration squanders or works in opposition to it.

Thirteen years in middle school?!! You have to be great to last that long with those kids. That's peak hard-headedness.

One of my coworkers used to be a teacher.

Bro was no slouch.. said there were good things and bad things. Still keeps in touch with some of his students.

The bad will probably come down to the students, their parents, lack of resources provided by the school etc.

A lot of kids are so behind in terms of reading, writing and math for their age it’s insane.

I thought you needed a bachelors to be a teacher?
