Is being called "Unc" or "Auntie" an honor or shade?

Is it an honorable well earned title for elders in our community or is it a passive aggressive way younger people call someone flabby and sick?

Chris Brown has seemingly embraced his Unc status while Jim Jones longtime girlfriend and "Love and Hip-Hop" star Chrissy Lampkin has seemingly taken offense to being called Auntie by a younger woman.

Both. It can be used by a younger person as term of endearment and connection as well as mocking a person’s middle age status. I’m in my mid 30’s and don’t particularly mind I’m not peers with teenagers or 20 something adults. I only have an issue when it’s someone in my same age group trying to act like they are so much younger like we’re not both young old heads.

If you make it to a respectable age someone calling you these names should not bother you
nikka I came from an era where every black male was supposed to be dead by 21
Came from an era where you was dodging human zombies like Leon S Kennedy just to get to school
nikkas shooting guns and you playing a game of what said gun could possibly being shot
For me to make it to 45 this year
I’m cool with it no matter the way it’s used
I made it to this age
I’ve been called a lot worse :russ:
