American cities aren't built for people these days. They're built for cars. Anyone who has lived abroad for a substantial amount of time realizes this pretty quickly the moment they start navigating a city like Vancouver, Montreal, Paris, Kingston, or Amsterdam. You see people biking where they need to go, walking to the store, taking buses/trolleys etc.
Hell even a place like NYC is more walkable than somewhere like LA
A LOT of America's problems from pollution to cost of living would be resolved if people had the
free alternative of just walking to the damn store rather than having to drive for 5-10 minutes, then spend another 5-10 minutes looking for parking. With less cars on the road, those massive parking complexes could be turned into apartment buildings. Parking lots too.
Look at this shyt:
Tell me that couldn't be knocked down and turned into a
rental only apartment complex that can house at least 200 people. Instead we use that for cars.
Humans aren't meant to be sitting all the time. You sleep, wake up, sit for 10-20min in a car(if you're lucky) then 7+hrs at work if you work at an office, then another 10-20min to get home. You can't tell me that Americans wouldnt be healthier and happier if there was less pollution in the air from cars, more opportunities to just walk or bike where you need to go, and more money in our pockets because we aren't spending it on parking, gas, and vehicle upkeep let alone the stress of idiot drivers on the road. You can't tell me that people wouldn't be happier if they didn't have to deal with road rage or risk their life every single day having to drive and possibly be killed by an impatient person speeding to get to work or whatever.
