Not necessarily because the most illiterate athletes or musicians can fall into the "excellence" category despite being low class...?![]()
/threadWhich is it
People bytch that black people highlight and celebrate the absolute bottom of the community but then wanna turn into Chairman Mao when folks of stature and of some acclaim highlight the best and brightest/successful
Which EVERY group on this earth does. And kill me with that “well there’s a middle ground somewhere” FOH ya’ll not parading or bigging up the brehs in middle management or the shorties working in nursing on the day to day.
Nikka whatNot necessarily a bad thing. The black community needs more classism. Too many are comfortable being at the bottom.![]()
Those are all things you’re supposed to aspire to. You’re SUPPOSED to accomplish as much as possible. Someone taking a pic in their cap and gown after getting a degree is not stunting. It’s celebrating an accomplishment. Again, we’re the only people who view moving up in life, and being proud of it as a bad thing. There is a big difference between promoting excellence and high achievement and "stunting"/flexing/bragging.
People mix up the two. We love to stunt on each other and show how much better we are (financially, educational achievements, or with social status) than the next Black person. That is not promoting "Black Excellence". That is low brow and petty and comes from a place of deep insecurity.
Since there is so much attention on black crime, and black negativity, so I see nothing wrong with purposely putting out positive images of black men looking, and behaving in a positive and sophisticated manner. If those same men were taking a group pic in white tees and jeans, you wouldn’t have a problem with it. Suits are associated with business, and success. And some of us are fashionable brehs who like a good fit.absolutely.
I crindge every time i see a photo-op and its nothing but a bunch of dudes standing in suits with a caption of "black excellence". What is black excellence anyways? I never heard of white excellence.
I wouldn't be surprised if the term was generated from some white power movment to describe the only time a black men is "excellent" is if hes dressed in European clothes doing something for capitalism.
