I'm good with it being about the all of our history, not just the American portion.

Part of the problem with the youth is that they struggle to see a world beyond their neighborhood, or wherever they're lucky enough to go visit family at. Let them learn early that there's a larger world out there that we've made a mark in before, and will make a mark in again.

I agree that it should be based on the primary black group in America - that being AAs. However it is never a bad thing to have sight of history outside of your own.
