He has a daughter too.

She even laments the fact that she never got a chance to be "daddy's girl." Reading something like that has got to be devastating.

oh word.

my wife is a big Brian stan. He even had his boys sing on his christmas album. To grow up and be goofy ain't shyt lazy fukks gotta suck. But him travelling and not being home to put a foot in their ass probably didn't help.

What are you talking about? If you look at the founders of some of the biggest companies (eg Zuckerberg, Bezos), they got hundreds of thousands in seed capital from their parents. That's how many of them get ahead in life. A lot of the children who are spoiled and wild' out usually have dysfunctional households where the parents spoil them to make up for said dysfunction. It's also not a coincidence that the founders of most of these big companies come from two-parent households where the parents have been married for decades.

I hate Zuckerberg and Bezos but if they had a plan and could show their parents a reason to believe in it, what do you expect?

B McKnight said his lazy ass sons ain't doing nothing but sitting around smoking all day, expecting to live off of daddys money.

If they was actually trying to make something happen, I'm sure he would invest in them and help them as much as he can. But what's the point of throwing your money into a black hole?

B McKnight isn't doing this to punish his children. He's doing it because they need to learn some valuable skills so that they can succeed in life, as opposed to being spoiled leeches. He wants his children to do something with their lives.

After watching....those grown ass nikkas need to :camby:

Now...I'm not with the whole you're over a certain age, so get over what your parents did to you stuff. If you harm your kids or if you weren't there for them, there's no expiration date on that. I hate when bum ass fathers who weren't shyt try to use this talking point. But I digress. That wasn't the case here. It sounds like they were expecting handouts and financial support, not upset because of personal things that happened. Once you 27 years old, 30 years old....you should be embarrassed still asking your dad for money. Brian McKnight is your pops, you should have been went to a great college or started a business or something. I struggled through college with no support. If I had a rich father, for ages 18-24, my life would have been alot smoother. I would have gotten to places alot faster. I would never be 30 something asking for anything. They fukked up.

Again....those grown ass nikkas need to :camby:

I was responding to poster who said that children need to be raised broke to avoid them becoming spoiled. That's not true, as evidenced by many successful founders getting a head start financially in life.

There are plenty of well-off parents who from the outside seem to "spoil" their children, but those children end up becoming well-adjusted adults because their parents also instilled morals and values into them by leading by example. If it's true that several of Brian McKnight's children (not just an outlier) didn't end up being well-adjusted adults, that's a reflection of his parenting or lack thereof. The fact that B McKnight lists his step-children and/or new children as his children on his IG bio and not his older children says a lot.

So Bezos shouldn't have asked his parents for seed capital at 30?

Different scenario. Jeff Bezos was at a NYC Hedge Fund making $200,000 a year in the 90s.

Not playing NBA 2K in his dad's basement :russ:

So his parents felt secure risking their retirement fund on his internet idea.

I'm sure if Brian McKnight's kids were doing something productive like that, he'd be willing to help if they had a similar opportunity.

That's true but I was responding to asking parents for money at 30. Some people scoff at asking parents for money beyond a certain age regardless of circumstances when in reality many successful people get financial support from their parents.

Brian gave his sons a singing career, had them on stage singing with him and I'm sure they got paid for that. He was trying to put them on but they would rather sit back and do nothing and live off daddy.

And Brian told them nah, time to get off your ass and stop playing video games and do something:camby:

Similar situation with 50

I wonder if Jackie Chan been
through something similar for
him to cut off his son
