Well there can only be so many icons in anything whether it be football, basketball, or wrestling. First name that comes up when i talk anyone about wrestling is cena with the most prevalent question being "Is Cena still the champ?"

There are only about 5 icons in wrestling (Hogan,Rock, Austin, Flair, Macho)

He's not an icon but he's definitely a "megastar"

He's not a megastar either. He's a STAR WITHIN the WWE. We aren't talking about other sports because pro-wrestling is different than other areas of entertainment because it's such a niche market and I'm not sure what people you've been talking to, but he hasn't made non-wrestling fans tune into the Ruthless Aggression Era nor the PG Era like Hulk and Macho Man tune into the Golden Era or Rock and Stone Cold in the Attitude Era.

The Mt. Rushmore of wrestling is pretty much Hogan, Rock, Macho, and Austin. Everybody else is second tier or lower. They've made the WWE SO MUCH money and still do and are known outside of wrestling.

You're getting the terms "megastar" "star" and "ICON" totally mixed up.

Gotta remember he left on his own terms. He couldve been on top if he wanted too so Vince had to give him some extra to make him come back. I think it's worth it because I think he's closing in on my top 5 and for sure top 10.

He can work with anybody and make them look great. He's a great seller in that he makes whoever he's wrestling look legit when they're on offense. He can wrestle any style and be one of the best at it. The only downside is his lack of mic skills but with Paul Heyman it really doesn't matter.

Brock is never afraid to a do a job or make someone look good so he's good for the WWE to keep around. Hopefully he feuds with young guys now as he's ran through the vets on the roster so far. Brock/Bryan, Cesaro and Reigns or Rollins would be a lot of fun

I'll never forget about Mark Henry being the sacrificial lamb for Brock Lesnar. Made Henry look weak as f_ck.

I hate that they do that with any returning big wrestler. They don't need to go right back to being dominant. The fans don't forget that they are top wrestlers. I've always liked Mark Henry matches with other big wrestlers and I think he and Brock could have had a nice brawling match if they gave a shyt about pushing Henry

That position easily could have went to The Big Show. I'm so tired of him in important storylines. :beli:

You just said celebrity status comes with being a megastar, stone cold was a star within the WWE. He didn't transcend wrestling.

And we know damn well wrestling is a cyclical business. There many things you can blame the boom period ending on but Cena isn't one of them, if anything Cena is the one guy who should get credit for it being as good as business has been since he's been on top. He generates in excess of 100 million for the company annually and vince has been on record saying "He keeps food on our table"

I much rather see Cesaro vs. Lesnar and have Lesnar put over Cesaro at SummerSlam. I think that's why they paired him up with Heyman. In the long run, it will be a feud to remember leading up to it.

Austin was never bigger than the WWE, which is why he constantly brought his ass back.

Hogan & Rock are the only wrestlers to become bigger than the business, and you can even argue for Lesnar. Austin was never bigger than the business.

I beg to differ. He was brought back because he made the WWE a lot of money, but don't get it twisted, Stone Cold didn't need the WWE to be big and he retired at the right time. He was going to do well regardless. The man is great with his money matters and he has a lot going on outside of the WWE and he's been getting guest star spots in movies, shows, etc. since The Attitude Era began. Even Hogan recognizes this and said so himself.

Wow, we are comparing Brock Lesnar to Stone Cold's icon status now?

Now I see you're trolling with these posts.

The 100 million statement was proven to be an outrageous overstatement and a outright lie. He would be making more than Will Smith a year and as much as Robert Downey Jr for Iron Man 3....Meltzer blasted that comedy down immediately. He's not making no 30-50 million a year. ..he barely makes 3 million at best.

Im not trolling, you're just not making sense. You're changing you're argument at every turn. First it was "megastar", then it was "Celebrity", then it was "icon"

Brock Lesnar doesn't need wrestling, Austin did

Austin transcends wrestling because of guest starring roles............... but John Cena headlines movies, has a platinum album, fruity pebbles endorsement, has cohosted ESPN shows, and is the all time Make A Wish King but he doesn't transcend wrestling. That makes sense to you? :usure:

Thats not even what the statement was, the John Cena brand generates in excess of 100 million for the company
