Is Capital Punishment the goat Hip Hop album or a top 5, 10, 20 or 25 Hip Hop album to you?

:laff:

Dawg you know how many albums have been released in the history of Hip-Hop? Having 2 albums in the Top 100 is nothing to scoff at :dead:

And that's just me estimating off the top of my head. Especially Murda Muzik. Could be a little higher or lower :ohwelp:
  1. The Infamous
  2. Illmatic
  3. OBFCL
  4. Death Certificate
  5. Hell on Earth

A lot.
I did this thread looking at it from a subjective standpoint and looking at it from the perspective of someone who might view this album as the goat, or as top 5 or to 10 etc
But for me, it's probably somewhere in the top 30 range or some shyt.
After top 25, it just falls in line with being among 1 of my favorites.
But there's many albums from this list that come before it, obviously.

Yeah. That’s how I see it. Subjectively I like it a lot more than objectively it belongs in the canon.

Definitely, I agree.
And to be honest, with more time, all I can really say is that I have favorite albums.
For me, I think it gets hard to box in what's better than this, or what's better than that because the classic albums from the golden era of the 90's were special, man.
I like those classics albums for what they each bring to the table.
The 90's brought originality and creativity to the table.
It's fun to sit and debate sometimes but at the end of the day, great music is great music.
