He is solely responsible for the emergence of the chicago drill scene. He gave the world, "Thot" although jojo was the first ive heard say it, chief brought it to the masses.
dude was 17 influencing grown men, had hood nikkas everywhere rocking trues and growing dreads

He also has 4 certified classics(of the 2010s)

IMO in order to be a legend u have to be able to sit in a room with Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Nas, Jay-Z, etc and not look out of place

so no, he can't do that

dude even looks out of place with modern accepted legends like Kendrick, Cole, Lupe etc...

but he fits right in with the Soulja Boy, 6ix9ine, type crowd

Shortbus legend maybe

You’re leaving out two important variables that put him at the table

Impact

Time

His fans understand both and they’ll put him there. You think they understand Nas or Stevie? They can probably appreciate their contributions but they didn’t experience their art first hand...

Chief Keef is a hip hop legend and he’s one of the best artists to create..

I wouldn’t put Nas at the table with Stevie

why not? Nas is more prolific

stevie created great melodies but had someone else write lyrics to his melodies.

dumbass comment

Keef and his kind would get a D rating if emcee skills were an attribute on a report card

I don't care about impact or how popular breh is

The lil dude is wack sauce on the mic

Lmao

Different genres

If you wanted to have a general discussion around best musicians ever, I wouldn’t even have the two close.

Stevie might be one of the best overall musicians of all time regardless of genre

Nas isn’t in his class.

Two different genres indeed

but for Comparison Nas would be the equivalent in hiphop to what Stevie is to Rnb/Soul (as would Pac, Big, Jay, Rakim etc) , someone revered and is respected by anyone with an ounce of sense and history of the culture

Keef ain't nowhere near a Nas and Jay level within his own damn genre.

and compared to Stevie's genre he would be somewhere between the equivalent of IceJJFish and Al B Sure status if we're keeping it a bean.

If you can't spit u can't be considered, point, blank, period.

Believe me my brother, I know where you’re coming from and I respect your perspective

But time doesn’t agree...

Most of these yougins don’t truly understand the impact illmatic had because they didn’t experience it (at all).

They experienced Untitled (their age) and had to learn past tense what Nas means to the culture.

Sosa is their Nas.

i don't think thats any excuse

if u want to be a fan of something and have a respected opinion u gotta do ur homework

thats like a random nikka saying something about Marvel or DC and never picked up a damn comic book in entire their life

same thing could be applied to any subject

if u don't know what ur talking about then their opinion is null

It’s real..

It’s very real, you can’t blame someone for when they’re born or why they can / can’t connect with something because it doesn’t resonate

A lot of these brehs and sisters don’t know life before a cell phone. ..

Waiting for Tuesday releases..

Hip hop magazines...

Rap City

MTV Jams

You say Ice Cube is the GOAT.. they’re like the nikka that does Movies.. that used to rap back in the day?

They go back and listen to his music and can’t connect but obviously they see the impact he made and can appreciate/respect it

Timing plays a key role in how you perceive what you like/connect with lol

Yeah even tho a big amount of his music is ass cheeks he has no quality control but def do got some classics

Bro put drill at the forefront which in turn shined light on Chicago and all its issues, he brought a swagger and aesthetic to the game that is highly imitated, he brought flows to the game that are highly imitated, brought slang and made it nationwide. His presence changed the game period.
