I was really contemplating this while driving just now. This dude is indirectly responsible for so many deaths. Literally created an entire scene. Whether drill existed before him doesn’t matter because damn near every dude in the drill scene attributes him to that moment when they started rapping about drill. The Coli is old heads, present company included, but there’s a lot of shyt that we considered wack that changed the direction of hip hop. Now that enough time has passed chief keef is one of them.

Edit:

Here’s Bobby Smurda even talking about it at 3:40 & 4:21

Maybe in NY but alot of them folks like Reese, billionare black , durk, king louie etc.. was already rapping before keef took off, of course keef put the national spotlight on chicago

I don't think any of them attributes keef as to why their rapping

Within Chicago you can definitely argue those points. But on a commercial, national and worldwide scale chief keef was most people’s introduction to drill. That’s fact and not just ny fact. Whether it’s NY or Florida, or Memphis, or England, or France Keef was the catalyst. He’s the reason why record labels started clamoring first to Chicago and then to the rest of the world. Obviously the established artists like Reese and Durk benefitted from that.
