Is Chris Paul just not as good as we think?

Cp3 is coming off a game 7 where he had 13pts on 6-19....he didn't get crushed for that like others would have.

He also has a game-winner in a game 7 but that's never talked about now.

Basically.

Paul's just always had bad luck too sharing his prime with the Spurs and then the Warriors. He's an all time top 5 PG in my book.

Nope

(No particular order)

1. Magic
2. Isiah
3. Kidd
4. Stockton
5. Payton
6. Curry
7. Oscar
8. Billups
9 Tony Parker

All better

Naw we not gonna do this. We not gonna try to diminish Kawhi's supporting cast when they just turned a 2-2 series into a win with him watching like the rest of us. We can parse Chris' game all day long but the reality is it ain't all on him. Smaller guards cannot dominate games and series the same way that wings and bigs can. You look at teams led by small guards that have had success and those teams put the perfect mix of players around them. This is a league of versatile wings and stretch 4s and the Clippers have neither.

Look, I know Paul's playoff track record is lackluster. But he's averaged 19 and 10, made 4 All-NBA teams and 6 All-Defensive teams. We're not gonna slander him by saying he's a worse PG than a guy who's not even a PG (Oscar) and Chauncey fukkin Billups who never averaged 9 ASTs a game once in his career.

Been saying this for 3 or 4 years now. Chris Paul is a great PG and has a great IQ but the problem is even though he is a very efficient scorer, he doesn't have the DNA to handle the majority of the scoring load when it is needed. Nothing wrong with being a pass first PG, but in todays league if you want to get over the hump, the PG needs to be able to be the go-to guy and get 35-40 points when needed, especially in the playoffs where while he looks good statistically, he has never really elevated to elite levels of play.
