This dude was nothing but hype and he wasn't even that good in college, how he made the NFL i don't know (we all know it was cause phil simms was his dad and he had the "pedigree"). They even fukking benched major applewhite for simms probably costing texas with roy Williams and cedric benson a championship . I remember his throwing a dumb ass INT that lead to a benson injury. I don't know if I can blame mack brown though cause i believe someone made that decision for him :francis:

only game I ever remember of his was when the ravens pitched a shutout on opening day in 2006. He looked ryan leaf levels of bad. Guy clearly looked to have no business being out there.

Didn't he kind of show promise the one year with the Bucs and Gruden then he ruptured his spleen or some shyt? Its been too long I don't really remember...

Yep... Gruden had brought in Paul Hackett to be his QB coach in 2005, and Hack may be lambasted as an OC, but he's as good a tutor of QBs as anyone. Simms started the majority of the games, helped them into the playoffs, and looked like the light was turning on a bit for him since he was actually looking competent out there.

Excellent position coaches tend to have that effect.

It was early the next season that he injured his spleen. He did have raw skills and it would have been interesting to see how Hackett could have molded that with a few more years of tutelage.
