But on the real, this dude was a certified scrub. It took him almost dying for Jon Gruden's love affair with him to be over. The team was much better off with an over the hill Brian Griese and an overhill Jeff Garcia afterward.

I remember that he really did have talent. Strong arm, etc. He was one of those 'looks the part' QBs back before folks stopped caring about that so much. Applewhite was one of those try hard guys with 'moxie' that was just a winner. Sims hurt himself by going to Texas more than anything. Too much pressure there
