one of the biggest rap songs of all time, changing up the game when it was stagnant

what a track, three strong verses from three good MCs, with possibly one that will go down in hip hop HOF :wow:

salute sean don for orchestrating this moment in hip hop history :blessed:

There was no Twitter/facebook or any social network services when Ether came out though. The time was different

Exactly, imagine the magnitude and ramifications Ether would've had on Jay-Z's career. He wouldn't be putting out these sub par albums because his relevance would've been greatly reduced.

I gotta agree with this, When you consider the context and the effect of the song, this joint is top 10 and climbing IMO. It's right up there with Bridge Is Over, Hit Em Up, 2nd Round Knockout, Ether, and the highly slept on For The Record.

It wasn't the most vicious "dis track" by any means. I see more ether than that dropped in the coli daily. But you can't deny it's significance in Hip Hop history. Everyone will remember the first time the heard it. Every emcee got 10x better over night in response. Phil Jackson is acknowledging it. The is the apex for Hip Hop right now and it just took a swift kick in the ass from the Kendrick kid to get it poppin again. He single handedly resuscitated a dying art form. :wow:

Fukk no. The ONLY thing memorable about Control is the name drops. That verse was straight doodoonomics. Conversely, you can quote Ether all day everyday. Ether is memorable. Control will be forgotten by the end of next month.

No, its even a diss record.

If anything today's social media and the new school probably hyped Kendrick's verse to be way more than what it is.
