I've only ever used the one that came with my credit card account, it's powered by TransUnion. I'm getting close to getting right between good and excellent but I need to get my utilization back down to around 10.

Let's see, believe the nikka who used the work FAKO or believe the nikka who got a mortgage :jbhmm:

Believe the companies who generate your credit score. They'll tell you themselves that they use the FICO method for credit rating. Credit Karma might be close, but it's not accurate. I've used similar non FICO once before (and said I had great credit). Went to get a mortgage and it was WAY lower than the FICO scores my lenders provided to me.

My shyt dropped 90 points because 3 collections hit me with medical bills on my credit report :mjcry: was originally 661 now I'm 570 :sadcam: now I'm trying to settle with the collections to get these things removed.

You might want to run a search on MyFico forums to see what they say about collections and types of "baddies" which is a negative mark on your credit. There's a lot of information there about how to negotiate the baddies on your report! It takes time to clean up your credit, but it's worth it. Good luck to you!

I'm not interested in who you believe. "Getting a mortgage" and "CreditKarma using obscure scoring models" are mutually exclusive ideas. There are ppl in here saying the same that their true FICOs were as much as 30 points higher/lower than whatever CK generated for free:

It gives you 20-40 point less than your actual score.

I've found that the scores aren't true to my real scores. I like MyFico, but I track my credit from my Discover card and Experian credit tracker after I had some fraudulent activity. Experian credit tracker costs me, I believe, $19.99/month, but I get updated any time there's a change in that score. It's worth it to me for the peace of mind it brings. Discover sends me my Transunion score on my monthly statement. I use credit karma just for a ball park estimate though, and it's good for that.

It is but they give you an average of what it is. I went to my credit union last week ended up taking a look at my fico score which was 20points higher than what the credit karma score I was looking at.

Then there are "FAKO" scores that aren't official scores, but a ballpark, rather. I looked up which agency capital one uses for their report and I see that's also Transunion.

Get your scores from the bureaus themselves(Transunion, Equifax, Experian) or Myfico...

Most places, credit card companies give you fako scores. Yes fako is the name of them..thats why they are usually higher or lower than your real scores.

Use CK if it helps u manage ur credit. -- Just know ur real scores can be up to 100 points higher/lower than what's shown. CK uses TransRisk from TransUnion ... meanwhile banks pull from TransUnion FICO Risk Score 04. Two different algorithms, BOTH from TU itself. Yet which one is actually used in lending practices?

Theres a reason why that shyts free. CK uses Vantage3.0 ... Banks pull from Experian/Fair Isaac Risk Model v2. I financed a 2SS Camaro and CK said my scores were 601 and 598. Dealership pulled my real FICOs and I was 712 TU and 678 EXP. Off by over a 100 points.

4 every 'one' person that says their CK/FICO were "the same" there's 15 more who report 10-100 point differences, thread alone backs this up. Ppl use it bc it's free, not because it's a beacon of accuracy.

The site is for real dude. They are in cahoots with the CC companies and anyone who joins gets a boost in their credit rating quicker than those who aren't a member.

They are trying to combat the spread of "No credit" offers and deals because most people in America's credit is in the shytter so they are not using cards enough.

Credit Karma was created to boost CC usage among affluent and educated people and it's working, but you can also use it to your advantage.

I'm partnered with American Airline Credit Union and Navy Federal Credit Union. When I sign on to my AA online banking site, on the corner of the screen it shows my Transunion score. It updates weekly or when I click the "update" option. And Navy Federal sends me a monthly letter with my Equifax and Experian scores.
Then there's my DISCOVER, Captial One and another non-brand name credit card that tells me my FICO.

I like Credit Karma though, I use it mainly to monitor and see what needs fixing on my credit report.
I'm with nfcu also. How do you sign up so they send you a monthly letter with your scores?:ohhh:

Which is why I made it a point to note that there are different models used by different lenders for different reasons. They aren't necessarily fake, but a different model than what might be needed. Ballpark range is good to have for free information.

Score no, Reports yes

Id recommend getting the myfico 3b score service and cancelling after 1 month. That way you know your real scores and what you need to do to get where you want to be

Edit: also do the utilization trick so you score is at its highest when you pull it.
