before this year I wouldve said no but I didnt know he was that stubborn on lowballing execs. lowballed Griffin then lowballed the hell out of Chauncey. reason why one left and the other declined the position. I mean I am not saying overpay but he was offering them below market value. if you not paying $4 mil, its hard to get anyone with a name or experience. He was offering less than half of that.

Yea but there wasn't anything he could have done to avoid losing Bron the first time. Bron was going to Miami (or another major city) to play with his friends and win chips no matter what. How he reacted after Bron left made it clear he was a bad owner (the letter).

Losing Bron a second time...I guess there are two ways to look at it. On one hand Gilbert has let Bron call the shots in creating this team. Which you'd think is a good thing if you're arguing you gotta do what Bron says in order to keep him. On the other hand, Bron has created a terrible team that is strangling the Cavs financially thus making them unable to make moves. So he's gonna lose Bron again...by letting Bron run the show.

Then why won't he just trade the pick then? :usure: By your logic and all...

And the reason LeBron is "holding you hostage" is because your team and management had SHOWN they were HORRENDOUS during his first stretch there. If this were the Spurs organization or the Golden State organization, this whole "holding us hostage" thing wouldn't even be a problem. Did you hear the Warriors group being all p*ssy last season because Kevin Durant and Steph Curry could've possibly opted out and left in the offseason? No, because they, as an organization, knew they were solid and therefore had confidence/belief from that. The Cavs ownership knows it is trash so that's why they have no confidence in their ability to keep LeBron. :yeshrug:

Trade the pick for who? Who helps you this year that you can trade the pick for?
And yes they were horrendous that's for sure but besides that it's what Bron wants. He wants more control than the front office. He tried to pull that in Miami and Riley wasn't having it.
As a GM/owner you can't move freely with Bron on your team, he makes sure he's part of every decision. It's why guys like James Jones are still getting checks cause that's Bron boy and if you get rid of him Bron might not like it and not resign but if he went ahead and signed you can get rid of those guys and bring in young guys worth a damn.

Dude is a billionaire he good at owning something

He made much of his net worth during the recession. Quicken Loans was the largest lender and flipper of toxic debt. He now owns Downtown Detroit; literally owns all of the major real estate.

Was he a bad owner? Yes. He caved into jis star player's demands and immaturity, something that Pat Riley wouldn't have which is why he left. He then publicly lashed out at him. Ungrateful ingrate who should be happy LeBron left him with a valuable asset.

Eh, we saw how LeBron did Miami though, Gilbert is terrible but at the same time the constant "LeBron FA" shyt limits what you can do. You add those two things together and it's dumping gasoline on a fire.
