Just stop. Stop. He got the most crowd reaction in recent memory but it stops there. He brought back old wrestling fans, along with CM Punk but it stops there.

The greater majority of people ALWAYS think the newest "popular" is greater than the old "popular"

EXACTLY! Nothing now will ever beat nostalgia popular. "Old" popular especially in wrestling is undefeated. Until Bryan has his own commercial for beef jerky or an energy drink, stars in a non-WWE produced movie, appears on daytime talk TV IN CHARACTER, hosts SNL, beats up Will Sasso or asks if anybody wants a peanut, Bryan will NEVER be as popular as you think he is.

Yea 4th is a wee bit high namsaying? I'd give D-Bry a top 15 spot but when talking about popularity I'm thinking crowd reactions, merchandise sales and shyt like that. I think Macho, Warrior and maybe Andre would be the guys after Hogan, Austin and Rock. People know who they are and are fans of them to this day. Their deaths were all felt past wrestling fans too.

I don't think he was Top 4 either.

He excelled during a time when the writing was mediocre to bad, and succeeded despite that. There's an argument for him and Punk changing some of the things they look for in talent now (see NXT), but over the years there have been talents who impacted culture inside and outside the company way more. :yeshrug:

Daniel Bryan has more popularity and mainstream recognition than Shawn Michaels or HHH ever gotten

Was there ever a wrestler where the fans nullified his push down the card?
Not sure but the downfall of kayfabe made that possible really. When other superstars were doing their shyt, most fans wouldn't have caught they they were sliding down the card.

With that being said, I don't think anyone ever utilized the fans so directly. Straight shat on a major pay-per-view for him.

watch/listen to the initial pop that happens that 4-5 secs before the yes chants start. Not comparable to a lot of cats.
Ric flair returning home...no chants, just genuine reaction.

everything you said was right. But im not talking about who the casual wrestling fan knows. im talking crowd reaction- when that theme music hits, the place is gonna explode. Im not talking about who people know and dont know.

*I realize you said wwe...but using it to make an analogy

the Yes chant was more ovah then Bryan was himself, smarks got it twisted, thank god management knew better

If the yes chants were so over, how come they didn't work for the Big Show when they tried to push them on him?:jbhmm:

4th most popular ever??? Bryan's my guy, but there's probably 8-10 Attitude guys alone you could put in front of him. Now go back to the late 80s and early 90s...do you realize the amount of megastars back then? Pump the brakes.

savage was marketable with the slim jim commericals and the ooh yeah. But not too many wrestlers can have the audience in the palm of their hands. Only hogan, rock and austin could do that .

:mjlol:@ the title. I don't see why people be saying things like this. Dude was a very good wrestler but I've never connected with any of his gimmicks/characters. Actually I take that back...I liked dude when he was the champ and was a heel. The "No" gimmick. Not his fault but they killed that off too early. Everything else I been pretty :ld:on with dude. Him and HHH had a really good match though...and I will :salute:Bryan for the work he put in WM 30. 2 matches on that stage. I give dude all the props in the world in ring but if we talking popular, all around, draw then he is no where near the top 5 :childplease:top 10:childplease:top 20:childplease:
