I'm 28 so I was in my early teens when Jay was big (Blueprint era, 2001ish).

I'm not a Drake fan but, Drake is bigger than Jay was. Literally every person in their twenties listens to Drake. He runs hip hop right now. Now.......he doesn't have the classic records Jay-Z has, doesn't have the iconic moments Jay-Z has had in his career (and Jay-Z didn't have many :mjlol:) and being outted as someone who used ghostwriters, he won't be remembered in the same light as Jay-Z......but, I would be a hater to act like he's not more POPULAR than Jay-Z was.
:what: Drake will never be as big as Jay. He's popular but even Kanye and Eminem were bigger at their peaks. Lil Wayne also.

I don't agree. Jay-Z was never big. He was consistent.

50 Cent, Nelly, Eminem and Ja Rule were BIG. Jay-Z was just consistently dropping platinum or 2x platinum albums every year while they were doing 5x platinum, 8x platinum, so kill all that noise. Adjusted for downloading and people not buying records anymore, Drake IS on Ja/50/Nelly's level of popularity. Now that's speaking commercially. If you wanna talk about artistry, classic records and critical reception, then that's another argument and I'll agree Drake has nothing on Jay.

He is, but for the new generation in which white people/the suburbs have taken over "hip hop". No disrespect to Drake but thats the reality of the genre these days :manny:

A better catalogue than HOV? Yall straight bugging.

No he's not on Jay's level. Dude has yet to deliver a classic/great album all of his albums are average and sub par.

Where is his blueprint RD, Black album?

Everyone shyts on IYRTITL but the first 6 songs are the strongest of drakes career and his most performed but it's proven he didn't write them.

But I like drake for what he is.

If Jay at his peak and Drake at his peak dropped the same day who would win? Or Drake and Kanye...or 50...or Wayne...or Em?

Jay went 5x Platinum with Vol 2. He was huge.
