Is drill/murder/gang music creating a fire that can’t be put out in hip hop? Van Lathan thinks so 🥹

It’s not only drill music.., social media give all these trash nikkas the opportunity to put out more ignorance

The 80s, 90s etc was the same but only difference there was no social media which mean u was able to ignore majority of trash nikkas because only California, New York, Philly, Houston with rap a lot and Atlanta with organized noise and jermaine dupri was dominated the scene and u didn’t have nikkas from Iowa, North Carolina, Nebraska, etc getting no airplay because they had no outlet to put out music..

Go to worldstar , YouTube,etc and every city in America today got some drill rapper or stripper bytch thinking they are rappers

Rap game has become the new drug game because everyone see this shyt as a easy dollar
Facts. NY rap was clowned on here for being too word or lyrical. We didn’t make music for the clubs that women can shake there asses too.

Turn on the radio and I hear a woman grunting like Rick Ross spewing remedial ignorance only to have the Mona Lisa of thottery ask her to hold her beer and proceed to out ghetto her by tossing veiled insults and threats for bout 15 garbage bars after garbage bars.

Turn the dial and try to escape it, nah, every urban station on satellite blasts this god awful shyt music. No lie, there was trash in the 80s and 90s but that shyt was heavily filtered. Once major conglomerates removed mom and pop from the industry, it’s been easy to access lesser quality.

The Wu talked street shyt but gave us lessons and never made that shyt seem like crime was something to aspire to and most of them were involved in street shyt to some extent.

Cats on here gonna get in their feelings but rap music is mad feminine nowadays. Bunch of old and young chatty patty dudes selling their asses for a dollar. Arguing on social media trading insults like housewives. Rap as we once knew it is finished. Nas was right. However, I am sure a new artform will be birthed from this. I just hope the creators don’t sell out this time.

@ItsPeople

It is a multifaceted issue imo. Parents need to heavily monitor what their kids consume imo.

while that may be the case, contrary to popular belief, black men can control how we are protrayed in media, seen and unseen.

Well said! Lets also not forget that Hollywood shyt like TV and streaming shows have also gone more ignorant and they purposely target children with that ignorance so they can consume that junk as well.

If you think it’s just for “financial interests” and not to permanently destroy black men and black people in general then you’re naive and sleep af outchea breh
Permanently destroy black men and people? :mjlol: Sorry but this is where being a black militant works against you than for you. It is of financial interest for themselves. You have to understand the concept to address the issue. If they wanted to destroy black people it would not be that hard to do and I don't like saying it. Just look at this year alone which proved we don't have political representation. School districts around the country banned CRT being taught in schools with no black objections. Blacks asked for police reform and was later told Congress didn't have enough time to bring the bill to the floor. Instead, we were told to shut because we got Juneteenth as a holiday. And we all know the stats on black wealth in this country. In other words, don't play checkers when others are playing chess.

It definitely not. So why not get rid of it?
As another poster said, hip hop lacks balance. In the early 90s you literally had something for everyone. Then the industry heavily pushed gangster rap to the point where there is no diversity in hip hop anymore. Getting rid of it will not solve the problem but is shouldn't the face of hip hop like it is today. IMO.
